ABSTRACT: The authors show that the percentage of positive tests as well. is the
intensity of the concentration of mucoproteins in the urin of patients suffering
from, acute viral hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, obstructive jaundice and biliary
dyskinesia is higher when the disease is more serious. It is suggested that this
may also be due to pathologic changes in the kidneys during these diseases.

rots as a supplement to the basic ration, the

the number of live baby pigs in the 1st group

At an altitude of 1.450 m. the authors made investigations on normal persons and
on patients suffering from hyperthyroidism, concerning the modifications of the
respiratory constants (vital air consumption, tidal air. respiratory volume, 02
coefficient and02 respiratory equivalent, pulse rate, and strain test). Normal
persons as well as those suffering from hyperthyroidism displayed the following
reactions due to altitude: a lowering of the consumed vital air, ar. increase of the
tidal air and of the respiratory minute volume. a lowering of the 02 coefficient, a
tendency to rise of the respiratory equivalent. These reactions are much stronger
with those suffering from hype rthyroidis m, being amplified after physical effort,
a fact which makes it the more difficult for those suffering from hyperthyroidism
to become acclimatized to altitude, especially if they have also visceral complic-
ations. As a practical conclusion of these researches, the authors consider that
those suffering from hyperthyroidism can benefit from a climate of moderate alti-
tude. on condition that it does not present visceral complications, the cardiovas-
cular and respiratory systems being more subject to stress in high-altitude condi-
tions. The patients' altitude cure must be accompanied by rest, cardiorespiratory
strain being increased by physical efforts. (VI, 3)

The best pepper harvest was obtained at soil
humidity of 66 percent of the entire water ca-
pacity in the beginning and the end of the ve-
getative pariod and of 77 percent in the period
of fruit-bearing; tomatoes - 68 and 78 percent,
and cabbage - 82 and 90 percent (in the period

Abstract : The premise that soporifics affect only the higher nervous centers is con-
tradictory to the premise that all these preparations as a rule act equa3_1y on all
sections of the neuron. Danielopolu, thinks that 2 types of action by the drugs and
physical agents should be distinguished: "the interstimularing antagonistic mechanism"
and "the corticoendocrine affector mechanism." In order to clarify the mechanism of
the action of soporifics the authors investigated the actions of chloral, chloralose,
paraldehyde., and luminal. Their influence on the action of the mediators-acetylcholine
(1) and histamine (II), and also of the ions of potassium on the uterus of a virgin
guinea pig; on the terminal section of the iliac of the same animal; on the straight
muscle of frog's abdomen; on the stimulatibn of the excretion of adrenalin (Ill) in
a dog induced by KC1 of 1; on the effect of 111 on the blood pressure of animal; and on
