Abstract: The method is based on the reaction of As, Sb, and Di
Sulfides with H9S04 in sulfuric acid nedium. The

filtered, washed, transferred together with the

pracipitate becomes completely white, the preci-
pitate le washed with water, acidified with sul-
fu;ric acid until the flask is filled up to the
mark. An aliquot portion is pipetted [-intc a

the excess HgS04 is determined and expressed in
L-dl.liltters as 0.1 N I in the entire filtrate.
The amount of starting As, Sb or Di compounds is cal-
culated fron the difference between the introduced

0.25 mg. epinephrine daily for 25 days; B cells in endocrine pancreas
were degranulated, A cells formed over 40% of insular cells. In group
receiving acetylcholine 1.25 mg. twice daily i.p. for same period,
degranulation affected preferentially A cells which formed then 31%

TITLEt An automatic device for controlling the hardness of

TEXT: Investigatibns were carried out at MEI, Sofia, in or-
der to determine the possibi.lity of constructing an automatic device
which can grade machine components according to their hardness. The ob-
ject of the investigations was the dependence betweerv the residual mag-
netic induction Br in the investigated specimens and the hardness (ther-
mal treatment). Cylindrical specimens were found to be most suitable for
the experiiaent. Three types of steel were tested% ordinary carbon steel,
steel CT 45 (ST45) and alloyed steel CT 4 ABC (ST4KhVS). Similar speci-
mens were thermally treated, and then magnetized in a constant electromag-
netic field for 10 sec. Afterwards, each of the specimens was dropped
from the same height through a measuring coil. In this way it was proved
that the residual indu%:tionis almost equal for the different componerts.

Using indices such as temperature. bloodsugar, alkali reserve, vomitingand
ome muscular phenomena, a study was made of changes in the vegetative Proces-
es of 21 dogs and 10 white rats in hypnosis or narcosis provoked by 'cortical'
:
and brain stem'narcotics (chloral hydrate, amobarbital. morphine). The absence
of dependence of the intensity of the vegetative reactions on the accepted localiz-
ation of the narcotic action is considered as an essential argument against the
classification of narcotics as 'cortical' and 'brain stem'. Some objections to the
concepts of E. Pick about the locitlization of the vegetative centres are presented
in an attempt to show that the diSDrders in the vegetative processes arising from
the InPuence of various narcotics are the result of a disturbance of the total regu-
lating and integrating role of the cortex and subcortex. The importance of the
different actions of individual narcotics on definite tissue enzyme systems is also
pointed out.
