All the lubricants can be divided into two main groups; (1) compositions including mirface active agents (SAA), and (2) compositions based on light mineral oils with varicrus thickening agents. TFe physicodmemical properties of the lubricants and their limit reductiong drawing stress, and burning off during heat treatment were determined. Tests of the lubricants with and without SAA showed that there were no appreciiible differences in drawing stresses, which were much higher than when the standard "VsMRr T"Aubricant is used. Therefora, the lubri- cants are unsuitable for use under 1~~Iustrial conditions of drawing. However, two lubricants, named VM-17//(85% MS20 avLation on and 15% of a high molecular compound with a molecular weight of 20000) and YVIV~r-J2/481% aviation oill, 4% of the same high molemilar compoundp and 15% aluminum irtearate) were fmad to produce drawing 7 resaes PATSEVICH, S.L. TITLE: Polarojraphic Analysis of the Liquid Products of Nitrat:ion of .'lkanes With Nitrocen Dioxide (Polyarograficheal:iy analiz zhidkikh 1;roduktov nit.:oveniya alkanov dvuokis'3-u azota) PERIODICAL: Zhurnal analitiche3koy 1-.himii, 195), Vol 14, Nr 2, pp 13q-l~-J (USSR) ABSTRACT. The -as-phase nitration of alkanes (C to C ) with nitrDgen 1 3 dioxide yie'ds a complex mixture of products the quantitative analysi3 of vhich is very difficult. In the reaction nixture nitroparaffins, alkjl nitrites, alkyl nitrates, aldehydas, alcoholo, alkanes, alkenes, carbon monoxide, carbon liokide, nitric o-xidesj and water were fc;und. The nitric oxiies, carbon oxides, and hydrocarbons may be determined by the usual chemical or c!iromatographical methods. For this Purpose the liquid reaction products (nitroparaffinn, alkyl nitritoo, alkyl nitrates, aldehydes, and alcohols) nust be separated Card 1/4 beforehand by dissolving them in water. In tlie present paper SOV/75-14-2-9/27 Polarographic Analysis of the Liquid Products of "litration of A.,ane-n With Ilit.-ogen Dioxide a quantitative polarot;rnpllical method of analyzing liqu-I.d nitration products in the absence and in the presence of ITO2is described. The method devised makes it possible -.o latermine the sum of nilroparaffins, the sum of alkyl nitrites, and the determination of formaldehyde and of the sum of hij;h- er aldehydeg in the absence an] in the presence of 7TO 2* The determination of formaldehyde in a 0.2 molar solution of LiOH is possible if the concentration of ITO3 is belor 0.01 - 0.05 mol/l. If alkyl nitrites and alkyl nitrates are simultaneously present, only t'ie total sum of these coui- pounds can be determine]. The authors obtained fol- the first time a polaroUram of methyl nitrolic acil. In a 0.2 molar solution of LiOTT the polarogram of the methyl U nitrolic acid consists of two waves with half-wave potentials 71112 ~-0.6 v and r,/2 ' - 1.1 v with reference to a saturated Card 2/4 calomel eltictrode. Gignoux, "Electrostatic generators for space application", 102-6me Colloque du SNRC, Grenoble, 1960). Formulas for maximum power of disk-type and cascaded- conveyer generators show that the maximum specific power (per unit volume or weight) is inversely proportional to the stator-rotor gap; the load voltage and current a-re independent of the gap. Small gaps are preferable because they mean smaller spurious capacitance, and the available power becomes closer to its theoretical value. The latter statement was proved theoretically and experimentally, on a single-disk generator, at the NII of Nuclear Physics, Tomsk Polytechnic Institute. An olectro- static generator with parallel-connected poles and vacuum insulation seems t, be most promising. Orig. art. has: 8 formulas. These generator types have both maximum power and maximum per-unit power: disk type with a conducting charge conveyers multidisk with parallel-connected poles, and multidisk with cascaded conveyers. However, in small-size bar-type electrontatic generators, direct capacitances of charge conveyers to ground (shaft housing) may become considerable; they are denoted by C4 in the Inner-rotor (lefts and outer-rotor (right) generator designs (see figure below). By applying the same electrostatic- equation method to two numerical examples (number of conveyers, 2m = 14 and 2m = 22), these conclusions are reachedt The inter-conveyer capacitance C is rusponsible 3 for a natural charge polarity reversal which augments the load ourrentl (2) The -Card 1/ 2 ~vds k y r a." -,irr-; ray(,n,; a PATSKZ-Vlr'H, 1,R.
