The uppor part of the platinum wire electrode employed was In a hydrogen atmogphor(,, and the lower part was Immorsod In 7 N KOH. lbo derivative of the polarization of the edge point was found to Increase with the polarization of the imorsod part over a wide polarization rangel thin in at- k.ributod either to the fact that the electrolyte film becomes thinner in the dry part or to an increase :in the density of the ionization current. It is shown that in the case of high polarizations, the series of experimental data obtained does not corro- late with a film mechanism of hydrogen ionization. The data can be explained either in terms of kinetic hindrances caused by the slowness of the electrochemical stage, -Card 112__ UDCi 541,13 - - ACC NRi AP6030898 or, pr9ferably, by the facu that the ionization of hydrogen does not occur on the on- tire surface of the electrode, but only on active centers. The factor determining the Ionization rate is the supply of hydrogen to the active centers both through the elec- trolyte film and by migration in the or phase of the electrode (from-odsorption centers to ionization centers). In conclusion, authors thank V. S. Daniel'-Bek for a useful discussion of a number of problems touched upon in the study. Orig. hast 4 fig- urea, 2 tables and 11 fornmlas. In 1900 he completed his stiidies at the University in Prague and was graduated as doctor of philosophical sciences. In 1905 he was appointed docent and in 1909 professor of this university. Already when he was a student he occupied himself with Hussitle-i and in 1900 he published his first work on this subject. A substantial part of his historical works is devoted to social history and to the political attitude of the Czech people in the 19th century, among them the two works "Bodrahik Smetana" and "Masarik". Card 1/2 A series of his works is devoted to prominent personages Z. R. Neyedly - Prominent Scientist and Personage of Public 30-58-3-6/45 Life of Czpchoslovakia of the Czech civilization of the 19 th century. He munt also be considered as the founder of Czech musical science. In 1903 he published a work an the history of Czech music and in 1905 he defended the dissertation on musical science at the Karla-University. In 1903 his work "General History of Music" was published. He also was interested in pictorial arts, literature of arts and theater, in which connection his work "History of the Opera in the National Theater" is mentioned in 1935. Neyedly must also be considered as an important politician who takes an active part in the politico of his country. In 1937 he published his monograph: "Lenin". During world war II he emigrated to the USSR where he immediately worked as collaborator of the Institute for History of the AS USSR. He was also appointed professor at the Faculty for History at the Moscow University. He wrote a series of booke on the Soviet Union. He was decorated with the Lenin order. In 1947 he was~elected corresponding Member Card 2/2 AS USSR and in 1953 professor honoris causa of Moscow University. There is 1 figure. The changes brought about by surface-active additives in the contact surface of the metal under conditions of friction are considered (changes In plastic deformation and In the resultant ba-rdening, changes in the density of dislocations wo In the Intragranular structure). In the caze of chemically active additives, the desirable-4mcts of such com- poiznda are thought to be due to their decomposition under the influence of the high tempera- ture produced by the friction. Investigatiou of metal complexes of the type of thiocyanates and diUdzonates are reviewed, and their effects are illustrated by the example of an armco - o2rd 40904-65 1ACrymno NRs "5009279 armco friction couple. Relation between structure$ color and substantiveness of benzanilide dyes Dok. AN SSM 106/1~ 72-75) Jan 1, 1956 Abstract I The relation between the structure, color and substantiveness of benzanilide dyes was investigated. The increase in the color and drop in substantiveness of these dyes due to the absence of conjugated double bond chains in their rolvcules, are discussed. The possibility that the structure of the dyes is less favorable for the formation of hydrogen bonds between the auxochromes of the dyes and cellulose is analyzed. Kazanskiy, July 15, 1955 Card 2/2 Pub. 22 - 19/43 Periodical : DOk- AN SSER 106/1, 72-75, Jan 1, 1956 Abstract % was found that the reaction between benzanilide dyes results in formation of hydrogen bonds not only between cellulose and auxochrms but also between cellulose and the smide group of the dye. The effect of the axo-group on the substantiveness of the dye Is explained. Nine referencest 4 USSR~ 3 Gem., 1 USA and I French (1914-1954) .
