ABSTRACT: General Infornation Is given on the theory and observation of
flare stars In general, but particular emphasis is on the nature of stars
of the class UV Cet. With respect to the source of the energy of these
flares It Is speculated that the flare occurs as a result of the sharp
penetration of some quantity of hot gases Into the surface layers of a star
where they cool slowly. On the other hand, It can be postulated that the
flares are caused by relativistic electrons whose velocity Is close to
the speed of light and which as a result or circular motion In the
no.-netic field or a star or sons spot on a star radiate In the short-Ijuve
re Ion of the spoctru; However, the author feels that ths continuous

emission spectrum In the UY and bluo parts of the spectrum Indicates that
the energy of the flares Is released as a result Of 50ne process still
unknown. Tho author does tend to accept the hypothesis of Academician V. A.
Anbartsunyan which suggests that the stars of stellar associations were
form.od In such groupings fron Initially superdense ratter (protostarg).
Assuilng that stars of the type UV Cet are very young, that Is, In the
process of fornation, Ambartsuiyan believes that in these stars there
sometinos vay be transfornations of the remant3 of protostellar matter
within the interior of the star Into nornal matter. This results in the
release of an enormous quantity of energy In the to= of radiation wi h

1-2% in locating faults on transmission lines. Sev-
enteen of these instruments are now in use in the
high-voltage network of Mosenergo. In 1950, 18
faults vere located by means of pulse line meters.

ABSTRACT: The principle of operation of the electric-power generator with a

TITLE: Productl-on--Ur-M-gh-Grade Heavy Pyridine7 Bases

TEXT: The development of the process of extraction of heavy
pyridine bases from creosote and naphthalene oils on the Kuznetlt-k
Works is outlined. The extraction of bases is done with a 20%
sulphuric acid. It was found that the maximum amount of bases Im
extracted and the process is not accompanied by the formation of
acid tar if the coefficient of excess of acid during the washing of
the creosote fraction is 1.1 and on washing of naphthalene oil
1.7 to 1.8. Under these conditions, the content of free acids in
the pyridine sulphate decreased from 6 to 2.8%. In order to
produce pyridine bases conforming to I"IDCT7922-56 (GOST 7922-56)
(Grade A) a two stage method of decomposition was adopte&
a) preliminary decomposition consuming 30 to 40% of alkali, in
which the removal of impurities naphthalene and oil takes place and
b) final decomposition - yielding high quality pyridine bases.

stage before their separation from the purified sulphate and the
