Indandions derivatives bee been studied In tests on adult gray and
albino rates For a 5 to 10 day period the experimental groups of snimds,.
were fed rations divided into two parts: one part "poisoned" with the
derivative under study and the other part left pure* Daily consumption
of poisoned and nonpolsoned food was determined for each animal and also-
any patbological changes, particularly symptoms of bleedings were noted*
HodenticIde effectlTeness was based on the percentage of animals killed.
A group of 10 experimental animals was used in each seriei, with

concentrations of derivatives ranging from 0*05 to OeO25% In relation to
welgbt of food ration. AnImale were observed for 2 weeks-following the
5 to 10 day period* Findings show that about 90 of the one hundred
10-Indandione derivatives tested do not display rodenticidal activity.
Daily consumption of foods containing these derivatives did not produce
patbologlcal symptoms nor did animals die with cumulative doses, The
renalning ten derivatives displayed certain toxic properties with
percentage of animals killed ranging from 12 to 60%a Ret1ndane with
dipbenazlne as the active lmgredlent and ratindane-2 with phentolacine
as the active Ingredient appear to be the roost promising rodenticides

TEXT: The cross sections and angular distributions for the (Y,P) and
(y,n' reactions on oxyeen were determined from 732 proton tracks and
1,256' tracks of C15 recoil nuclei, respectively. The tracks were recorded
with a Vilson chamber in a magnetic field of - 10-5 ke�e. 'he cross section
for the ~y,p~ reaction increases from zero at hV . 12 Mev t`o the first
peak (-.., 6 -,b )at hV - 17 Mlev , f ollowed by two peaks of - 7 mb at h\) - 21 Me v
and - 23 .1.1ev. The cross section then decreases according to an
approximately exponential lar to zero at hV- 75 Mev. The (-1,n) cross
section which follows a similar course has its main peak of - 9 mb at
hV- 22 11ev, and a second peak of 6 mb at h,.)- 25 Mev. In the direct
photoeffect model with purely electric dipole absorption the nucloon
angular distribution is approximated by the expression f(rd) - A + Bsin"

AUtract Numerous examples are given, showing thelleparation of heavy
metals (chromium, manganese, Iron, nicks with the aid of
an ion-exchanger of synthetic resin. The separation of Iron
from manganese Is possible because the Iron, In trivalent
state, with pyrop4osphate forms a stable complex. Chromium
and manganese remain In the form of simple cations and are
retained by the active resin groups. The separation of nick-
el from chromium to poselble on the basis of the complex for-
nation of chromium with rhodanide. Nickel does not form
stable complexes when passing through the cation layer.
