Abstract: CAuthors, i~n&lish summary mcdifiec~7 A study of several outbreaks
of sheep liateriosis and one of svine listeriosis failed to locate common
precipitating factors. Bacteriologic te2ts of Oestrum ovis larvas collected
Prom 40 sheep in a-.tive listeriosis outbreak3 and 11 sheep with clinically
L')nfinaod cases w,,3re aU negative. No abortions before or during the out-
breaks were observed in sheep, but they did occur in sows. All troatments
tried were ineffective for diseased sheep; mass treatrwnt of the healthy
animals in a focus with a single large dose of penicillin, wldwin., etrepto-
nWc-&,i or terraWcin, however, immetUately stopped the outbreak.
