The me- thods of matrix calculus are used in the study. The liitits of appli- cation methods, used for symmetrical multi-pole networks, to asymme- trical multi-pole networks are shown. In the analysis of multi-pole VY networks, symmetrical with respect to a certain plant, wide use is made of the method of connecting in-phase or in-antiphase sources to the network inputs, symmetrical in relation to the network symmetry plane. A iituation then arises inthe symmetry plane which is equi- valent toithe short-circuit or open circuit. The possibility of ap- Card 1/4 S/194/r2/000/005/128/157 The calculdti64 of asymmetrically D271/D308 i plying thi' method to asyr.metrical multi-pole networks is conside- red; multi-4directional systeirs of vride-band waveguide circuitry are an example-of asymzmetrical multi-pole networks. The mathenaticE.1 analysis ij ba'aed on the matrix theory of multi-pole systems. Vari- ous types f connections between transmission lines are classi'ied as parallel -,,parallel, casca-"Ie - cascade, cascade - parallel anA parallel -ilcaacade. It is assumed that the transmission lines have the same PTOPatation constants and are non-dissipative. Cascade cascade conne6 ion is described by a resistance matrix, parallel parallel connection - by a conductance matrix, and cascade - Daral- iel (or pajral~lel - cascade) connection - by the hybrid matrix: U I I (H) U 2 i = 1 2 Conductanbe,br resistance matrices of four-pole networks are of the type: 1/y/ ja jb /Z/ Card 2/4 jb je calculation of asymmetrically The hybrid is: /H/ ja I -b S/194/62/000/005/128,/157 D271/D308 b i Transmiss-'.on lines are also described by line matrices. Analysis performed on this basis shovis that transformation v7i!;h re- spect to main axes (transformation with respect to diagonals) can be applied to systems with quantitative asymmetry (e.g. parallel - pa- Card 3/4 3/19 62/000/005/128/157 The calculation of asymmetrically D271X308 rallel or cascade -cascade connection of 1_~nes'with differen'; wave impedances) and with qualitative asymmetry (e.g. cascade - parallel connection). This transformation can be applied either to the parallel - parallel or to cascade - parallel connection, but not to both types of connection at the same time. Besides, in the case o f the quantitative asy=.etry, `-asic parameters of lines involved mus t be identical. In spite of these limitations, the method of main axes transformation used in symmetrical networks can be successfully ap- plied in a number of cases (directional waveguide connections among them). The application of the metbod is illustrated on the example of an asymmetrical 8-pole waveguide system. 8 references% (Inst. f4dr Hochfrequenztechnik und Elektronenrdhren der TH 'Dresden, GDR) (Institute for High Frequency Engineering and "lectron TubeEv Dres- den Technicai University, East Germany). The dry residue was determined gravimetrically (4 hrs at 105 + 10C) and compared with the percentage of dry residue determined by an Zbbe refracto- meter (with a double scale indicating both the dry residue suitable for food products and n 20 ). Articles manufactured from it on a laboratory scale are marked by high microhardness, good r7asistance to abrasion, and high mechanical strength. This material shows a strong tendency to crystallize at temperatures below the softening point. Irradiation wLth UV, followed by he thermal treatment, tends to lower the crystallization temperature and raise t microhardness. Crystallization of "agalit" increas,~.s its bend strength and micro- hardness. 'Mechanical characteristics and methot4.8 of treatment are described. Orig. art. has: 2 tables. Organic derivatives of aluminum are attacked by moisture and oxygen. The apparatus employed in the present work is shown in Fig. 1. Standard ethylene, ( > 99-0 C2H4, < 0-01 02, 0.0095 CO, < 0-001 C2H2, < 0.02 ethers and < 0.045 % of water, by weight), was mixed with each impurity in turn and passed into the polymer- izing chamber containing a solution of the catalyst (AI(Et)2X and TiC14, where X = Cl or Br) in benzene. The molar ratio Al:Ti was chosen to yield polyethylene with a reduced viscosity value red.) equal to 2Xer1red. is defined by red. solution - n, solvent, solvent - C where C = concentration in g7100ml = 0.5. The effect of acetylene impurities was studied in two series of experiments, varying concentration of the catalyst and the ratio Al(Et)2 Br: TiC14- Catalyst consumption increases gradually with increasing C2H2 content, while igred. falls rapidly for up to 0.066 % C2H2 (by 63 %) and is little affected thereafter.
