ABSTRACTS It was the purpose of the present work to examine the proposals nade by A.G.Neyasov for the increase of the magnesia content in the agglomerate for improving their strength and their reducibility. Agglomeration (sintering) testa are described. The mixing of "he charge layer, the method of chargirq; the bucket, and igniting the layer were investigated. It was found that the quality of ag- glomerates with additional charges (fluxes) depends in many re- speots on the magnesia content. in Drder to increase the constancy of the properties of the agglomerate abtained it is advisable to keep the following conditions on a constant level in the ag- glomerzte layers (Cao + MgO) : (Si02 + A120 ) and MgO s (C&0 + Vg0) or C&O t SiO and MgO : (CaO + HgO). In order to increase strength and reducibility, the magnesia content, i.e. the ratio MgO t (CaO +MgO), must be increased.. In order to be able to de- termine the optimum magnesia content in the agglomerate, it is neceasar7 that tests be carried out. with a 3 % MgO content and Card 1/2 more in the agglomerate. Moscow, Metal 1u rfrizdat, 1958, pp 26-43 ABSTRACT: A method for the control of the reducibility (R) of an ag- glomerate by means of the determination of its relative R in a gas containing CO, produced by blowing air through heated dried coke fines at a controlled temperature, eliminatinf, the formation of CO? in the gas, was developed in the Magnitogorsk Institute of Mines and Metals. The degree of reduction is cal- culated by the enrichment of the gas with C02 after the passage through a 150-g test sample (8-10 mm ~'raction) heated to 800'C; the over-all duration of the determination is I hour. The opti- mum temperature of reduction (750-850o), the consumption of the reducer gas (2 I/min with a 150-g test sample) the dura- Card 1/2 tion of the reduction (45 min) were established in the course of SOV/ 137-58-8-16380 A Rational Method of Industrial Control of the Reducibility (cont.) the investigation. A method was developed for the analysis of the test re- sults; they differ little from those produced by the MMK method. N. L. 1- , _). SOV/2o-127-3-5e/71 TITLE: Paleo-botanical Evidence of the Coal-bearing Triassic Sediments of the Pechora Basin PERIODICALt Daklady Akademii nauk SSSR, 1959, Vol 127, Nr 3, pp 681 - 664 (USSR) LBSTRACTt The existence of continental sediments in the region mentioned in the title was so far based on assumptions only; however, these sediments were found in core samples from the left bank of the river Bollshaya Syn' (region of distribution of the "brown mass" by Ye. V. Voinova - Triaseic-Upper Permian), They were found by A. V. Makedonov, geologist of the Komi-Nenetskoye geologicheskoye upravleniye(Kani-Mmtatorre Geological Administra- tion). In connection with it k. L. Yanshin indicated the prob- able presence of a distribution region of coal-bearing Triassic (Refs 2,5). On account of the leaf fragments contained in the core it can be concluded that the rocks of the concerning bore- hole are not related to Permian. They belong to a new coal- bearing Upper Triassic mass which probably form3 part of the Card 1/3 upper part of the upper Kheyyaginskaya series of the Pechora Paleo-botanical Evidence of the Coal-bearing Triassic SOV/2o - 127-3 --- 5/71 Sediments of the Pechora Basin section. it the same time, the indistinct remnants (provided by N. V. Shmelev) from the same strata (1955)'Of south-we8tern Pay-Khoy on the river Khey-Yaga indicato Upper Triassic sedi- ments on the river Khey Yaga. F. I. Yenzova registered the section in the borehole by making notes of the flora strata. Contact with lower deposited rocks remains unknoivn; the 300 m thick Triassic sediments are covered, by %uaternary sediments. The author was to determine the ago of the rocko containing the flora. The Ginkgoacee Glossophyllum pynense sp.n (Fig 1 b-g, Fig 2 d - zh) is the main element of the 10 spec:~es of tKe flora complex. The new species is similar to the G. florini Kraeus. found at Lunz, Austria. The differences E~re given, Tiie author discusses four additional species from thet river Syn' with rezard to their age. A fern impression found. is almost entirely similar to Cladophlebis of. parvifolia (Comp.) which is known from Lower Keuper of Germany (Fwg 1 d), Aipteris ner- viconfluens Brick occurs frequently; it is known from Lower or Middle Keu-oer flora of the Kurashasayskaya suite of the 11ek catchment area (region of South-Urals)(Ref 1). It is a Card 2/3 cycadophyte (Fig 1 e, Fig 2 v). Thus it was detected that the Paleo-botanical Evidence of the Goal-bearin,,, Triassic ZOV/2, -127-,`-58/71 Sediments of the Pechora Basin plants from the river Syn' and from Pay-Khoy are very similar to the species from the Middle Keuper floras of Germany, AAstria, and other regions. Triassic sediments were assumed to occur also in other parts of the Pechora Basin (Ref 5) However, these assumptions have not proved to be true: there Yjas only Upper Permian in this region. Thus it seems that the whole Khey- yaginskaya series contains the coal--oearing U~per Triassic mass of the river Boltshaya Syn'. It seems to be :!-)merhat syn- chronous to the Upper Triassic sediments of th2 Pai-Khoy. The gancid fish of the lower horizona of the series menticned have rather a Triassic than a ?ermian appEarance (Ref 4,.
