ABSTRA~;T: A simplified circuit is shown in Fig 1; the unbaiaj.-~P
signal from a potentiometer bridge is amplifled and
eperates a relay, which controls the clutch .:!oupled tr,
the motor that drives the potentiometer. Thero are
throo negative feedback loops, one a rate feedbaci,,, th-
3econd an internal feedback In the chopper amplifier,
and the third a feedback from the output of this
amplifier to the input of the magnetic amplifier. A low-
frequency amplifier and phase-sensitive detector come
between these two amplifiers. A constant-speed motor
drives the potentiometer. The second and third pages -f
the paper give the usual equations of motion, etc, the
roots of the characteristic equation are negative and
real. Fig 4 shows the frequency characteristics for
various values of 'Y (response time of the clutch) and Q
