A positive correlation is demonstration between the observed results of tile chlor-
prornazine treatment and tile increase of the gatnina-globulin values as dete rill Ined
by the Kunkel reaction. The group of patientm in whom the chlorproinazine treat-
ment had no positive vesitits sitowed no significant shift in the gamma-glubulins.
Similar, but less typical changes, %%ere found in the lipoprotein values as was de-
monstrated by IlosilMis' thyrnol reaction. No significant changes were seen in
the alpha- and beta-globulins as was revealed by Greenspan's APG tetit.

A female patient of 26 contracted an Inflammation of the joints of the fingers and
ankles with fever, leucocytosis and a systolic murmur over the mitral valve. After
out-patient treatment with salicylates she was discharged. Three weeks later a pic-
ture of amentia and delirium developed, which made admission to the psychiatric
department necessary. The fever increased, whereas-the blood pressure. anti-
proteinase activity and C-reactive protein content fell. Autopsy revealed endo-
carditis verrucosa, haemorrhages In the pleura and mesenterium and cerebral
oedema. The histological picture of the brain showed small perivascular haemo-
rrhages of the cortical vessels with degeneration of the perivascular ganglionic
calls. The heart contained typical ABeholf's nodules. Notwithstanding the atypical
C-)urae and histological findings. a rheumatic cerebral affection is assumed, in
particular an the grounds of the laboratory findings,

A preliminary attempt was made to carry out a combined pentetrazole -tranquillizer
treatment on 84 psychotic patients. This consisted in giving convulsive and tiub-
convulsive doses of the drug during actual treatment with chlorpromazine and
reperpine. Good results were obtained In mania and depression, and in what appear-
ed to be acute schizophrenic states. as well as in some cases of chronic schizo-
phrenia. Less satisfactory results were obtained with paraphrenia. Subconvulsive
doses of pentelrazole had good effects In melancholia, but were less successful
with schizophrenia. This seems an indicated method for treating various types of
schizophrenia, particularly when the use of tranquillizers alone Is proving of small

Abstract: Investigation conductod on 620 hospitalized patlionts in-
WI-cated that when extrapyramidal syriiptons are corrected there is
no d4fference between the actions of chlorpromazine, lovorapromazine,
thioridazine, perphenazine, and flunhenazine. Without an'tiparkin-
son correction levonepro-mazine and 111-hioridazine were sl.,perior to
other drugs. The potential antidepressant activity of -Ulnese drugs
is related to their antipsyc'~-ioti-e-anti,,3chizoT)~iron-;-c action. Im.-
ipramine t7po drugs have better therapeutic action on iniaili;itued de-
pression than the phenothiazinos. These latter are better than ir;-
ipramine in anxious~ a-itatod, and atypical doprossions. No re-fer-

administered to 76 patients suffering from endogenous depressions.
Total effecti-mnesswas recorded in 52.6/'-'. The effect of the drug
lies between that of imipramine and of phenothiazines. The im-
provement in the condition of the patients occurs in the 2nd and
3rd weeks. Side effects are frequent, but not serious. The photo-
