the magnetite powder, mixed with paraffin, in the frequen-
cy range from 1000 to 3000 Me (,\ = 30 -- 10 om) for various

Text; A patent has been granted ror a fuel filter, the element of which i-i made or synthetic material, c,8
polyvinyl chlorides. The element for the first-stage filter is prepared by mi:cing pulverized polyvinyl chloride
with a water-soluble powder; from this mixture a thin plate is obtained which, after washing out by water,
forms (lie ready first-stagc filter element, the finc-cleaning filter is also piepared from pulverized polyvinyl A
chloride but without any admixtures. The composition of the mixture is given ant) the process of preparing
the filter elements is described. The final fuel-filter is assembled of two concentric rings of the first-stagc and
the fine-cleaning filtering elements. The resulting fuel-filler retains 99 % of solid impurities. "There is also a
possibility of preparing fuel filters that retain solid particles of about one micron in size. The combined
fuel-filter has a relatively low hydraulic resistance and works five times longer (without cleaning) than ordinary
felt-filters. There is I figure.

Abstract: After injection of purified sheep prolactin prepar.,,tion without
adjuvant anti-prolactin (Pr) antibodies appeared in the blood of experimental
rats, which showed a precipitation reaction with Pr on an agar gel plate, and

which agglutinated sheep erythrocytes sensitized to -Pr in a high titer.
The antibodies may be detected 'in the gamma-globulin of the immune serum by
means of immunoelectrophoresis. on the basis of authors' studies the sheep-Pr
and anti-Pr are considered species-specific from the immunological point of
view. The antisheep Pr serum reacted only with extracts of sheep and bovine hypo-
'.physis, and showed no reaction with aqueous extract's of human, dog, rabbit,
rat, guinea pig and pigeon hypophysis, On the basis of these results it is
believed that Pr may be quantitativoly determined by an innunological method, but
to do this it is absolutely necessary to take into consideration tha species-

A half-spherical Mg metal surface is bombarded with the (t -rays of a
Po preparation placed in the centre of the half sphere. The excitation curves of
the resulting Mg(4,n)S nuclear processes are measured by the BU 3-filled
ionization chamber. By measuring the counting rate of the chamber it is also
possible to obtain the absolute yield of the nuclear transformation. The neutron
radiation is I'Akely to be emitted by the Mg25 isotope.

Abstract: Solutions containing infinitely small concentrations of radioactive
cations (ThB, Ra, and MsTh) were passed through columns packed with
crystalline BaSO4 powder. The columns were then divided into sections
and the specific radioactivity of each section was -measured. The dis-
tribution of the radioactivity by sections is in good agreement with
the theoretical equation log (8xi/sm) : log x0 - 0.4343 iSm-k', where

x9 is the specific activity of the top section, i is the sequential
i2dex of the layer, and k.' is the distribution coefficient between the

Abstract :Using an ionization chamber with FC131 contained in a cylin-
drical paraffin block, the author has measured the excitation
functions of the Q~.., n) reaction on aluminum, magnesium)
and boron. Samples of the above materials were taken in the
form of a hallow hemisphere, in the center 9f which was lo-
cated a polonium compound. The reaction 1Ll27(,\jn)P30 begins
at Eb( ` 3.6714ev; -,;hen E ~\ = 4.45mev., resonance is obscried.
The excitation function for magnesium displays two resonances
at 5 and 5-3 Mev. The absolute yield of the neutrons is) for
this reactionj 3.75 x 10-7 neutrons per V.particle. In the
case of boron, the excitation function shows many resonances*
