from ozygen, also 0102 and C1206 occur. The introducti, on of
stabilizers prevents the formation of chlorine ozide~ In the
ca~e of anode polarization in 97 % HC104 ozygen and chlorine
oxides are formed. The solution in t~.e anode space becomes
brown-yellow and the o�idation-reduction potential increases~
The anode development of o�ygen in c�,ncentr~ted perchloric
acid proceeds according to the reaction (15):

chemical reduction process of C12, CL20, C102, and 0105 in
74 % HC104 solution was investigated and the cathode
polarization curves were plotted. El,=entary chlorine is
reduced at a potential ~ = 1.25 v an~ chlorine diozide at
~ = 1.5 v. The disproportionation o:' HCIO3 in 74 ~ HC104
p~oceeds in the same manner as in 97 ~ HC104o

In 74 % HCI04 HCIO decomposes accordlnc to the
equation: C12C + 2H+ + 2e ---~- C12 + H20, ~o = 1.71 v (4)
and according to the reaction (18):

4HC10 ~2C12 + 02 + 2H20. Oxygen forms in the case of the
cathode polarization with a platinum electrode in 20 % HCIO4
solution. In 20 ~ HC104 solution C12C and HOle are reduced.
The molecules of HCIO3 are completely dissociated in 20

HCiO4 solution and are not reduced by the platinum cathode.

The results can be used for amalytic~.l determindtions of
chlorine and chlorine compounds in acid solutions and in
concentrated perchloric acid. There ~re 22 figures, 2 tables,

Abstract: The basis of th~ trcat~ont at the Investiture ~here the
