On the basis of the 2 cases published in 1951 and of 2 recent ones the author dis-
tinguishes a new syndrome with the following clinical features: (1) labial hetero~
topia of the salivary glands and (2) cheilitis actinica, whose clinical aspect and
probable pathogenesis are discussed. Two cases of such syndrome are described.
the one of a man of 26, and the other of a man of 6 1, both road workers by pro-
fession. Cheili!is actinica occurred on the lower lip following exposure to intens-
ive solar radiation during their work at road construction; the lesions appeared
only in the neighbourhood of the transitory streak of lip which contained the hetem
topic salivary glands, while the rest of the vermilion border was usually exempt
The presence of the heterotopic salivary glands may influence favourably the oc-
currenct of solar cheilitia probably because of: (1) increase In the thickness of
the lip and its protruding. (2) permanent moistness of the lip and (3) influence of
index of refraction of heterotopic saliva (from 1.368 to 1,371). Fluoroscopic en-
mination of the saliva of misplaced glands revealed no porphyrine.

tions where one high voltage supply is available. An electronic
tube operating In grounded grid configuration contains a transis-
tor an its cathode resistance. Suitable choice of tube and trans-.
istor depends on the amplifier-output parameters. The choice of

satisfied a resistance in emitter or collector circuit may be used.
An example is given using a tube type EF60 and transistor type TG5
where, with anode load of 100 kLSZ and V a 300 V. maximum cathode
current is 3 mA 4= I KE* It is concludet that any low power surface
barrier transistor of Polish manufacture may be used with the EF80
tube and transistors TG50-52 are suitable for EL aeries tubes, e.g.
EL83. The choice of operating point for the tube is determined by
the choice of anode resistance or load and linearity, that of the
transistor by base-emitter bias for a given emitter CUTrent. The
choice of transistor maximum voltage is determined by the emitter
and base resistances and their relation to the im rdance of input
signal source. D.C. and A.C. (frequency and phase characteristics
are tabulated. There are 2 figures and 4 tables.

ABSZUCT: The method most frequently used for the determination
of tensols is a gravimetric method based on the comple2obarium-
hoteropolyacid-tonside. The author improved the method by adapt-
ing it for operation in aseries of analyses. The interference of
m lfates which are precipitated with the complexes is removed by
using a direct titration with chelatvn III. When Ca instead of
Ba chloride is used the sulfates are not precipitated together
