TEXT: A number of gauze samples of synthetic and viscose fibers were
developed. The test results showed that various combinations of
synthetic and viscose fibers yield materials superior to cotton gauze as

Title : The Treatment of Hypertension with Rhodanates.

Abstract : Seventy five patients with hypertension (in the basic 4th,
3rd and 2nd Zeiyenin stages' ), were treated with rhodanates.
Ammonium rhodaaate was used (internally in a 1% solution) daily
in 0-3-0.6 g doses. The treatment was carried out continuously
over a 4 month period followed by a break, depending upon
the rhodanate level in the blood, subjective sensations and
objective data. It was noted that the greater the rapidity with
which a high concentration of rhodan tes in the blood took place,
the greater wa si their therapeutic effect. The best results
were obtained in patients (up to the age of 55) in the second
and third stages of the hypertenia lasting five to six years.
Five patients had skin complications. In four patients glos-
sitis was observed. It is emphasized that in severe cases,

where there are no therapeutic effects from other drugs, the
rhodanates may furnish considerable improvement over long

ABSTRACT: One of the present authors earlier formulated the problem of the
velocity distribution in the tidal current in the sea (B. A. Kagan, Okeano-
logiya, vol. 4, no. 5, 1964). On physical grounds Kagan came to the conclusion
that the entire depth of the sea water may be divided into three layers. Ex-
pressions for the calculation of the velocity profile of tidal current in the
sea have been derived on the basis of the solutions of the equations of motions.
The purpose of the present article is to establish the relationships between the
velocity distribution of the tidal current and the horizontal pressure gradient,

the theoretical predictions and data by D. E. Cartwright and A. J. Woods

Abstract: A study was made under plant manufacturing con-
ditions. The deaerat on was carried out In ver-
tical tanks of 9-11 mi capacity. It was found
that the process of fiber production depends pri-
