ventilator (1) into the upper part of the diffusion dryer (2). -1he air is then
passed to the re gene rator-abs orber (14), where carbondioxide, harmful impurities, and
some water vapor are removed. The purified and dried air is then passed through
the lower part of the diffusion dryer back to the cabin. The regenerator-absorber
may contain a peroxide substance, plates of potassium carbonate, or zeolite. I When
the dry air is passed back through the diffusion dryer, a moisture concentration
gradient is set up through the porous membrane, resulting in the preliminary cL-ssicatim
of the moist, incoming air. A bypass valve (5) regulates the amount of dry air
passed through the diffusion dryer. The membrane in the diffusion dryer must pass
water vapor and be sufficiently strong (silica gel cannot withstand vibration). The
capacity and efficiency of the diffusion dryer can be calculated taking into account
the volume of the airflow, its temperature, and the vapor permeability and surface

Abstract :A virus was demonstrated by infection of chicken embryos
in the amniotic fluid and membranes and also in the mucosa
of the uterus of experimentally or spontaneously infected
pregnant sows. Two healthy piglets were successfully in-
fected with amniotic fluid and with the extract of membranes
which demonstrate the possibility of infection of healthy
animals through contact with amniotic fluid and membranes
of diseased animals. The influenza virus was demonstrated
in the pericardial fluid of a sick piglet within 24 hours

the traditional way was investigated, after live virus of influ-
enza suis was applied intranasally.. The viru ropa(mtes rapid-
ly in the lungs and reaches highest titres (10 KE ID50)
30 hours after infection. The high level is maintained until the
4th day after infection; strong antigenic stimulation results in
the formation of antibodies; with the increasing amount of the
antibodies the titre of the virus in the lung decreases. 2 Figures,

The effect of chlorpromazine on the EEG was studied in 38 patients aged from 2 to
65, the majority suffering from epilepsy. It was found that chlorpromazine activat-
es, primarily. focal dysrhythmia in psychomotor and temporal epilepsy. The opti-
mum results were obtained by slow L.v. injection of 25-50 mg. of largactil. while
the EEG was recorded. Children were given 12.5-25 mg. of largactil by i.m. injec-
tion 20 min. before the .1racings were made. Activation of the tracing began after
5-20 min. and reached the maximum after 15-76'min. according to the way the
drug was applied. Sleep was not essential to obtain activation. Sensory skin and
verbal stimuli provoked a varying degree of arousal reaction in chlorpromazine
sleep. In other cases they provoked or inhibited epileptic activity. Skin stimulation
was more effective during sleeping than waking. Verbal stimuliwere most effective.
Chlorpromazine can also be given to restless patients, particularly children. in
whom the EEG tracing would be illegible because of their restlessness and lack of
co-operation.

when thore was zoro activity in somicoma and drowsiness. EEG was
similar to stages of sleep; phasic alternations were noticed in less severe
disturbances of consciousness. In comatose and semicomatose states there was
similarity to deep sleep, in drowsiness to light sleep, and in slight disturbances
to initial stages of sleep. The technical coordination was done by I. Kaliatova.

non-linear element to the object must be constant. It is also shown
