AbstractrEnglish summary modified]: Study in 64 rabbits operated on the 20th
day of fetal life (of total of 106 so operated, 28 succumbed, another 14 were
eliminated from detailed study for other reasons;) resecting connections
between neopallium and rest of cerebrum; study specialized (washing, licking,
combing, shaking) reflexes between 21st and 29th day of (extrauterine) life.
Riisults indicate that neopallium affects ontogenesis of reflectory
activity at very early period of life already. Four tables; 8 SoviEt, 8
Western and 7 Czech references.

oscillometer for high-frequency titration purposess capable of being as-
sembled from generally available components, was described. The prin-
cipal components of the device include a splenium rectifier, a trans-
former, four electronic tubes, an adjustable condenser, titration cell,
and vacuum-tube voltmeter. If the voltmeter has a recorder output, the
device can be used for recording. The constructionp operation, performance#
and applications of the device were described and illustrated with sche-
matic diagram and drawings. It ran be modified for measuring frequency

Out of 2232 deliveries during the last year 2.8% of new-born children had to be
treated for purulent conjunctivitis after prophylactic instillation of 5% protargol.
but no instance of Sonorrhoeal conjunctivitis was observed. None the less it is
felt that Cr6de'm method catmot be abandoned. Blennorrhoea of the lachrymal sac
was observed in 2.00% of now-born children. In the diagnosis of tozaemis of preg-
nancy the importance of dynamometric assessment of the retinal blood pressure in
emphasized.

The skin function was determined by determinhig the quantitative changes of the
sebum according to the method of Fiser -Lorenz -Graham. In some cases the excre-
tion of pregnanediol, gonadotrophins, 17-ketosteroids (fractionated) and oestrogens
was investigated during the entire cycle. In addition the Thorn test and CharvaPs
cholesterol test were performed. When the excretion of 17-ketosteroids was high
the cortisone test was carried out. Endornetrial biopsy was done on the first day
of menstruation. In agreement with other signs of increased seborrhoea a noticeab-
ly increased seburn level was found in patients with ovarian and familial hirsutism
as compared with patients with adrenocortical hirsutism. Menstruating patients
with ovarian hirsutism had anorulatory cycles. In 3 of these patients the growth of
the beard decreased slightly after wedge resections of the ovaries. The growth of
the beard in a patient with familial hirsutism decreased by the use of 25 mg. of
cortisone daily for 2 months, followed by the same dose every other day.

A report on changes in the location and concentration of carbohydrates in the
ovaries in cases of Stein-Leventhal syndrome. The most significant changes are
accumulation of acid mucopolysaccharides and mucoproteins in the perifibrillar
sheath of coarsened collagenic fibres and in the interfibrillary cement substance
of the tunics albuginea. They are also present in the media of arteries of the cor-
tex and medulla where they are associated with secondarily deposited collagen and
hyaline, and lastly in the cells of growing follicles, in which they are in granular
form. The luteadzed thecal cells contain hardly any carbohydrates. The cause of
these changes is considered to be a dysequilibrium in the neurohumoral reactions.
