ThrlFf-s-e-r-i-e-s-Mexperiments were carried out. The first series helped to deter-
rrine the minimum vital power of the missile needed to overcome the Lntac, surface
covering of the body and to enter intu the underlying tissues. The second series
was executed on living dogs and made it possible' to ascertain the loss of vital
power of the wounding missile in through-and- through wounds of different body
regions and organs. The third series was designed to assess the changes in differ-
ent organs of dog and man at the moment of passage of the wounding missile . The
method of high-frequency discharge photography. allowing a taking of pictures with
a speed up to I million exposures in a second, was applied to this investigation
for the first time. Thanks to this technique a bullet's flight in the air just before its
entrance into the organ and at the moment of its exit from the wounded part could
be traced.

Inital substances in this synthesis were 2-chloro-4-nitrobenzoic acid (I) and
4- amino - veratrol (II). Their condensation product (111) underwent cyclization after
treatment with POC13 in chircoform. The 9-chloro derivative obtained produced 5
new compounds: 2,3 -dim ethoxy-6 -nitro- 9-aminaacridine after treatment with

were colored crystalline compounds. Orig. art. has: I equation and 2 tables.

in Certain Liver Diseases.
Orig Pub: Probl. Terap. 1957, 6, 7-18.
Abstraot: The value of residual chromium (V.RC) is normal
or near normal (0.73) in the blood plasma of
patients with mild forms of epidemic hepatitis
(EH). In cases of EH of moderate severity the
VRO is more frequently elevated (1.2-1.8), but
even in selere cases of EH it does not exceed 2.
In chronic hepatitis the VRC rises to 2.3-3 and

Ori g Pub Roczn. glebozizwsze, 1956, 5, 221-24-9
Abstract In vegetational and field experiments, peat, sat.,.rated by
ammonia at hig1i (100-2500) and low (down to 500) tempera-
tures, was tested, and its action was compared with ni-
trogen fertilizers and a mixt,re of peat with ammonic-m
hydroxide. The advantages of peat, saturated by NH3 at
low temperatures, was explained. The action of this fer-
tilizer an beets izsured a larger harvest than the appli-
cation of Naa with the addition of calcium carbonate.
In experiments with flax and winter rape, the cction of
peat, saturated by NH4, was identical with the action of
