TITLE- Thermo-Physical Characteristics of Some Colloidal Substances
PERIODICAL: Inzhenerno-fizicheskiy zhurnal, 1959, Nr 6, pp 96-99 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: Determination of thermo-physical coefficients for albuminous
colloidal substances presents considerable difficulties. Tc. ~-n-
vestigate them for some products used in the meat industry, the
author employed a device and method of instantaneous hea, sour--e
developed by M.V. Kulakov. A short desc-ription of this dev:ce
is given. The samples of materials investigated were tested in
liquid and powdered-like states at various moisture content. The
values of thermo-physical coefficients such as coefficients of
temperature conductivity a, specific heat capacity c, and heat
conductivity I are determined for a number of materials and com-
piled in Table 1. The dependence of these values on the mo-,sture
content (A) is shown in the form of curves in Figiire 1, and the-ir
meaning is discussed from the viewpoint of bonding erierj~y

recovery in 11 cases. Treatment involved int-ramus-
or endolunbar injection of penicillin in

combination with sulfamide therapy and blood trans-
fusions. Intramuscular injections required 20,000-
30,,000 units per day for 30-40 days, endolumbar inJec-
tions of not less than 20,000-30,000 units per day
for 2-3 weeks. Suboccipital injecticns found qulckly
effective where endolumbar injections showed no re-
sults.

ABSTRACT: The authors studied the absorption spectra of solutions of CdI in water

of concentrations from 0.00122 to 0.02000 M obey Beer's Law, whereas a
deviation from this law is observed in the aqueous solutions. On adding
water (from 50 to 75%) to the spirituous solutions, the absorption maximum
shifts to 226 m/,. On adding 2 M of HC1 to 0.005 M of a spirituous solution
of Cd12, a band shift to 248 m p. is observed, as well as the emergence of a
brown color and a new band near 360 m# ; these phenomena are connected with
the separation of molecular iodine., A comparison of the obtained results
