TITLE: Use of Photheo 19/1318_phototheodo!i~ in precision ground surveys

ABSTRACT: The Ph~oTtheo 19/1318 phototheodolite (Zeiss manufacture), the only unit available
for ho~_h_0__~_~ammetric purposes in Poland, was found to yield prints containing significant dis-
tortions in longitudinal parallaxes relative to reference marks, at times amounting to 0.3 mm.
Verification experiments related such distortion to instability of internal orientation elements,
more specifically to improper alignment between negative and the reference frame. To fa-
cilitate use of these negatives for precision photogrammetric surveys, the author evolves a
corrective stereocomparator program involving the measurement cf reference coordinates
and parallaxes p and q of reference marks and all points of interest, the calculation of refer-
ence coordinates of all points on the right plate, the calculation of orientation element correc-
tAons and reference coordinate corrections (or of corrected reference coordinates) for both
