an Elevation in Central Nervous Pressure on the Pressure and Flow of
Lymphatic Fluids"

Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian summary] In the dog, there is a close linear
correlation between venous pressure and pressure in the d. thoracicus or
tr. cervicalis. In the case of increasei pressure in the d. thoracicus,
there is an increase in the pressure of the abdominal lymphatic vessels
(liver, tr. intestinalis, tr. lumbalis); the lymphatic pressure in the ex-
tremities remains unchanged. When the emptying of the d. thoracicus is
mechanically inhibited, there is a decrease in the flow. There is an inverse
correlation between the locarithm of lymphatic flow and the resistance. The
flow is, however, also dependent on the production of lymphatic fluid. In
case of elevation of the systemic venous pressure or in acute hypoproteln-
emia, considerably greater flow can be noted in the d. thoracicus than in
normal animals under identical resistance conditions. In case of increased
lymphatic fluid production, flow will cease only in the presence of con-
siderably increased resistance. An analysis of the correlations led to
