The chloroform extraction was carried out by the direct and reverse methods of reaching equilibrium, and the direct method was shown to give low results probably because of hydrolysis of indium. PH values for 50% extraction of indium were determined, and the extraction cons tant for L choloroform was found from the equation In A.(.) + 3 W. In-- + 3 HA(.1 UDC: 543.70 L 23364-66 ACC NRt AP6008694 to be lory Kex = 1.315 0,011. Otber constants obtained were the Idist-r-lbution consta,lt :of the indium 8-hydroxyquiTfolinate complex in the CHC13-H20 system (log pc = 3,09 f 0.02) and the stability constants of indium complexes with 8-hydroxyquinoline (Igg 12.00; log 02 = 23.99; 109 03 = 35.47). All the constants were obtained at an ionic strength of 0.1 (perchlorate solution) and 250C. The authors thank I. P. Ali- marin and L. M. Yaki kj? for their constant attention and suggestions. Abstract: Tn adult fertile cows, uterine glands (UG) open on the surface of the mucous membrane with ori- ficeB of diameters 30-70/iA - Orifices of UG are scattered along the surf&ce of the mucosa unequally: they are completely absent in the caruncules, close to which they are located more often, forming a pericar- uncular zone with a width of 1-2 =. Average quantity of UG is greatest in the entrance of the oviduct card 1/3 Pi USSR/Fam ArAmals . Cattle . Abs Jour: Ref Zhur-Biol-, No 17, 1958, 18724. into the uterus. The number of UG in the right and left horns fluctuates within wide limits; the average density of location of UG decreases in both horns in the caudal directionj but in the body of the uterus, their quantity is increased anew in a majority of cases. General quantity of UG depends on the size of the organ and, in nonpregnant cows, comprises 70,000-138,000; in heifers, 223,800-260,000; in pregnant cows 197,400-236,000. In the horn which contains the fetus, UG are greater than in the one which does not contain it, which indicates the possibility of an increase of the quantity of UG in connection with stretching Q Card 2/3 LAIABUR, Ed. This was the case in the 9 K(BK)-lA type engine tested by the injection nozzle of the author ~Ref- 3: Kavitatsiya kak sredstvo raspylivaniya zhid- kosti / Cavitation as a Means for the Atomization of a Liquid Trudy ZKVVIA im. D223YI)304 breaking up of the jet at the nozzle orifice by applying sound and supersonic oscillations, it is possible to reduce the pressure P in front of the nozzle. As a result of this reason- ing severaT atomizing systems were developed and suggested by N.S. Lamekin and I.Ye. Ullyanov for application (Ref,. 6: For- sunka dlya zhidkogo topliva /-'Nozzle for Liquid Fuel 7, (av- torskoye svidetellstvo no. 123375), Byulleten' izobriteniy, no. 20, M.p 1959). Following a discussion of the theory of a nozzle with a gas generator, the author provides a description of such nozzle (Fig. 2) which was subjected to a series of tests. Compressed nitrogen (or air) of 1 to 4 atmospheres ex- cess pressure was fed into the nozzle generator. The resulting atomization of the liquid entering the nozzle under low press- ure was as follows: at 1 atmosphere excessmvessure in the generator and a liquid pressure P = 4 kg/c the mean diameter of the globules amounted to 92Ak, When the air pressure was raised to 4 atmospheres, the mean diameter of the globules was reduced to 87.AM In both instances the air consumption did not exceed 5% of the maximum l*Lquid consumption. The diameters Card 2/5 27942 S/14 601000101110101012 Fundamentals of the theory ... I)223YD304 obtained during the experiment favorably agree with computed values. Considering the low efficiency of comparable nozzles in use to-date which are marked by diameters of globules in ex- cess of 200,,' .(mk) in the case of centrifugal nozzles and an excessive air consumption (air to liquid ratio about 1:1) in the case-of pneumatic nozzles, the advantages of the nozzle with a gas generator become self-evident. Mashino- stroyenie, no. 10, 1961, 114-123 TEXT: The gas generator is used as a source of ultrasonic vibra- tions for atomizing fuel in low pressure nozzles. It forms a ring chamber with a 300 edge on the air intake side. Its operation is based on the flow Of an ultrasonic gas stream from the nozzle with a surplus pressure, when the stream has a periodic structure. The stream is unstable in places where pressure increases. Emden's in- vestigations provided the empirical equation kDYT, --1.9 to p determine the first unstable zone. In the above, A is the length of clearance; D is the diameter of the nozzle; P p is the air pres- sure in the receiver; k - 0.77 to 1.02. Other authors deduced dif- Card 1/4 30892 S/1 4Y61/000/010/004/008 Method of designing ... D221 D304 ferent equations. The author indicates that the expressions due to G. N. Abramovich are in better agreement with the experimental data of MAI and NASA. An analysis is made of the length of the first zone of instability by applying the theory of small excita- tions and small angle 9. The calculation refers to ratios D - d D equal 10 - 20%. The stream directed into the chamber of generator will cause a jump of condensation which begins to vibrate, and will L move at high speeds due to surplus pressure. This surplus is pro- VIK duced by the outflow of gas from the resonator into the incoming stream. The drop of pressure in the resonator will then produce the reverse motion. The axially symmetrical flow in the meridional section can be regarded as a plane parallel stream, when the gas outflow through the ring nozzle with small clearance in relation to the radius takes place. A set of equations is deduced. The speed of a plane parallel flow remains constant during the expansion near the sharp edge. The author investigates the maximum error of calculation and concludes that the relative error of speed evalua- Card 2/4 310 P) 9 2 3/14 01/000/010/004,'008 blethod of desigaing ... Y' D221,D304 tion is m 1 100%. A numerical example demonstrates that for m+1 practical purposes it is sufficiently accurate to assume that the axisymmetrical flow in the meridional section is a plane parallel stream if the air pressure is P a /> 2.5 atm, and the outside air pressure is Po = 1 atm. Functional relationships between A and 9 as well asp are plotted. The clearance 8 is then computed accord- ing to the specified flow and pressure of gas, when M>,,,l is selec- ted, and D as well as P a are determined. With M and P CI the value of 9 is obtained. Finally, the ratios Z~i and 4 are deduced. This D-d is followed by a numerical example. The method described permits calculation of nozzle clearance in the generator so as to ensure 1141 a good atomization of fuel with reduced pressure at the inlet of nozzle. The liquid enters cavity A through tube 1. Part o" the liquid passes through 8 channels (2) into an annular channel B and through ark annular gap a discharges to the outside. Another part of the liquid passes from cavity A through 4 channels (b) to the annular gap cl and then into the chamber of the hydraulic generator 3. The gap of the. Igenerator chamber A is regulated by means of screw 4 which is placed in!, the body of hydraulic generator 5.. The length of the chamber lk can bel changed by adjusting the threaded generator connection. The impinge- I ment of the annular jets Al and A3 resulting in jet A2 is shown in Fig. 2. The distributor contains a casinc, within which are mounted a distributing and a guiding valve, two driving electromagnets of the pusher type, and a dual manual control (see Fig. 1). To prevent the workinC liquid from entering the openings of the acting mechanisms after it escapes through i the sealing'straps of the distributing valve in its neutral position, annular grooves! are cut on the central sealing straps of the distributor valve. These grooves are i connected through ducts in the body of the valve to the external and surfaces of the central sealing straps.
