Abstract: A unified system of the bile ducts and duodenum where
afr -the parts are undoubtedly in pathological and physiological
correlation is presented. A review of the different opinions on
the division of dyskinesia its clinical forms, diagnostic diff,--.-
entiations, progiaosis of posible complications, and diagnosis and
treatment is given. The differences and disagreements concerning
the definition, diagnoS3-8, and therapy indicate why the problem of
biliary dyskinesia ' is still unsolved. 8 Yugoslav, 9 'Nestern refer-

888. POISONINGS WITH INSECTICIDES AND THEIR FIRST-AID TREATMENT
(Rubsian text) - L a I i k o v S. 1. - KISHINEV (Gosizdat hloldavii) 1957
(65 pages) -
In-agricWture, chemical compounds are widely used in combating parasites and
plant diseases. Their toxic properties are not limited to the plant parasites but may
also be dangerous to man. This book is meant to acquaint physicians. medical
workers and agricultural specialists with the cardinal symptoms of acute and chron-
ic poisonings with these substances and with the first-aid measures in the treat-
ment of these poisonings. The principles of treatment are described: removal of
non-absorbed poison, neutralization of the absorbed toxic substance, symptomatic
therapy. the physical and chemical properties of several compounds, their use,
the clinical picture of acute and of chronic poisoning and the safeguards and pr(!-
ventive measures at work, a list is given of the medicinal substances used in
treatment of acute poisoning.

"A Summer Epidemic of Dysentery and Measures Taken for Its Control"
Sofia, yoenno Meditsinsko De o, Vol 21, No 3, jun 66, PP 52-5~
Abstract: An epidemic outbreak of Plexner dysentery affecting
150 persons occurred In a military detachment after members of
the aetachment did summer farm work in localitles in which
cases of dysentery had been recorded among the civilian popula-
tion. Prophylactic and sanitary-antiepedemic measures had
little effect on the course of the out:6~:-eak, whichcontinued
for 10 days and consisted of cycles with a duration of 3-4
days, with the maximum number~of new cases, occuring In the
middle of each cycle. The length of th-3 incubation period in
infectionswith this disease is 3-4 days. -One may assume that
the outbreak was due to lack of immunity or. the part of members
of the detachment affected and that it decreased i-,a intensity
as soon as immunity was acquired. The resistance of the person-
nel to infection may have leen l(mered because of overstrain
due to training: greater emphasis on activities not requiring

"Treatment of Chronic Catarrhal Endometritis in Cows with Nitrofuran
Preparations."
Sofia, Veterinarna Sbirka, Vol 60, No 4, 1963; pp 17-19.
Abstract: In this state farm of 190 highly productive milk cows, number of
cows with infertility has recently been brought down to 8 - 10%; 14 of 18
had catarrhal endometritis. Despite conventional treatment for 50 to 513
days, all 14 remained infertile. Treatment with nitrofurazone (5 Cm. of
finely crushed crystals 'emulsified' in 100 cc., glycerine, administering
intrauterinely 30 cc. of 50% aqueous suspension once weekly) cured 11 of
the 14 within 2 to 5 weeks. Table.

PERIODICAL: Meteorologiya i gidrologiya, 1958, lir 9, pp. 11 - 15 (USS'~i)
ABSTRACT: At the moment 2 methods are used for the determination of
the duration of drainage of thaw water : 1) Many research
workers (Refs 3,4,6,7,9) observe the move-.-ient of coloring
substances between 2 lines of direction. In spite of its
simplicity this method has among others the disadvantage
that its results do not reflect the movement of the wave
which transports the maximum volume of discharge but
the movement of a water element, i.e.'the velocity of flow
of water. On the other hand the notation skorost' dcbe-
ganiya according to G.A.Alekseyev and A-11.Befani (Refs 1,2)
must be understood, especially as the velocity of flow
of the flowing wave. Only in the case of filtration
of thaw water in snow (laminar conditions) when the
- the
mentioned velocity does not depend on the output
movement of the wave corresponds to the movement of the
Card 1/4 water element. According to the second method the period
On the Velocity of Flow of Thaw Water Down the Slope SOV/50-58-9-2/19
of displacement of the flowing wave is considered to be
the difference between the setting in of a stabilized
air temperature and of a stabilized water discharge (Ref 5)-
Although this method corresponds to the nature of the
phenomenon in practical life two difficulties have to be
met with which can hardly at all be overcome: 1) Air
temperature remains scarcely stable during snow thaw, 2 even in
the case of a constant temperature curve the radiation
fluctuates considerably in the course of day and night.
These difficulties may be easily overcome under laboratory
conditions and every factor may be separately observed
and a constant air temperature may be guaranteed during
snow thaw. In contrast to the exppriments carried out by
P.G.Tikhanovskiy (Ref 8) the authbr carried out investi-
gations on larCe scale also during the alternating freezing
and melting process of snow. Th4 analysis of observationo
made possible the derivation of'the following formulae:

TEXT: The results of experimental measurements of the snowts water.-
retaining capacity are reported. This capacity increases with the snow's
increasing density; it reaches the highest value in the presence of a
fine-grained structure and takes on the least values when the structure iF
coarse-grained. The snow's granularity is the chief factor for its water-,
retaining capacity. The graphic and analytical relationships of the snow,,_Z!
water-retaining capacity to the indirect index of its grarialarity--the
ratio of the initial and subsequent values of the snow's density--are pre-
