characteristics of asynchronous motor can be changed, de-
pending on t'he active resistance in the rotor circuit,
If an asynchronous motor stator is cut and evolved into
a plane kFig. 1), a running magnetic field is created.
By putting an evolved rotor (in the form of a copper or
aluminium sheet) upon the evolved stator, we receive a
translational movement of the rotor in the one or the
other direction, depending on the sequence of phase al-
teration in the stator winding. However, appliances per-
forming such. a direct conversion of electrical energy
into translational movement have not found hitherto wide
application owing to their low efficiency (below 50%).
Only of late, a number of comparatively simple and in-
expensive layouts permitting reception of alternating
frequency bir feeding them from a constant frequency net-
work was constructed. It enables the application of de-
vices that oonvert electrical energy directly inlto trans-

piston pumps. stamping machines, etc. Several types of
magnitofugal'motors were built of flat (Fig. 1) and tubu-
lar construction (Fig. 2). Driving by means of magnitofu-
gal motors f~Militates the switching of drive power cir-
cuits on alternating current, thus creating the possibi-
lity of automation of electric installations. There are

A13STRACT: The paper consists of two paragraphs. In the first paragraph the
author generalizes well-known theorems of Yegorov and Luzin to
the case of measurable mappingst
Theorem (Yegorov): Let R 1 be a space with a finite measure m and
let f n(x),, n-1,2,__.., be a sequence of measurable mappings of R 1
into a metric space R 2 with a countable base. Let the sequence
fn(x) converge almost everywhere to the measurable mapping f(x),
Then for every C;~,,O there exists a subset q of R 1 with the

In the second paragraph the author considers the convergence of
the mappings with respect to the measure and the weak convergence
of the measures. Two theorems proved for continuous mappings by
A.D.Aleksandrov tr-Ref 1.7 are proved for measurable mappings.
The case where R 1 and R. are locally compact metric spaces with
a countable base is considered separably,. Let r(E) be a measure

ABSTRACT: There is, without a doubt, a connection between the
faunas of the Kuyallnitskiy stage and the Guria horizon,
but the fossils which would connect the typical Guria
molluscs with their Kuyallnitskiy ancestors are not
known. On the southern limb of the Zemo-Natanebskaya
anticline the outcrops of the Guria strata are separated
from the outcrops of the Kuyallnitskiy strata b a soil
layer. The former is slightly inclined (80 dipT, and
the Kuyallnitskiy strata plunge dip (at the angle of 500
to 550), thus forming an unconformity. In a series of
the Guria deposits (over 2 m thick) the upper part

and forms closely related to "Diadacnall tschaudae Andrus. The
strata comVosing this part of the series are termed, cumu-
latively, Itransitional". The strata with Submonodacha pseudo-
multistriata (over 50 to 60 m) are also found near axial zone
of the Tsl-yagubanskaya syncline. In the neighborhood of
Archeuli, Baglebi, Ninoshvili, Nigvziyani and others, the
Guria strata dip under the layers of the "transitional" horizon.
in these layers, the presence of fossils lying between the
Guria and the Chauda strata establishes the developmental
succession of the Chauda fauna from the Guria and shows th4t
the formation of the basic Chauda elements started as early as
the Guria time. The salinity of the Garia and the Chauda
basins was close to that of the Caspian Sea, and essentially
lower than the salinity of the recent Black Sea.
