Detailed engineering information Is given on new vibration damping systems designed by three institutes (TsNIITMASh, TsNIISK and GIPROTIS) and test- ed under three 3-ton stamping hammers at TaganrogsWi-ykombaynovyy zavod (Tagara% Harvesting Combine Works). The first (Installed in 1957.~ is of the zuspension type with 12 spring dampers on suspension rods and 8 rubber dampc-ra; the second (mounted in April 1959) supports the foundation block on 18 z--prlng dampers and 14 rubber dampers standing on reinforced concrete bands In the. foundation box. The damper design has been described by V.F. 5hcheglov (in "Vestik mashinostrCw- niya" No. 7, 1958). The third systpm In different in principle ( 'hammer mounted in September 1959)9 the foundation blocR la suspend-~d cn 12 apring dampers and 4 pneumatic hangers, which accelerate the entire- :~ysterrj h-3nLrner -foundation block upward at the down stroke of the ram. The damper s work elements are ring spring3 damping vibration by forc,~s on tapered surfaces when the springq shift. The fcundation bLock of the third hammer had to be installed on tk-e usual. oak pad because no rubberized fabric lining could be obtained. The haanmer (of SKMZ make ') was not changed in design. Curves presenting the motion of tbe mobile par'_+s and pressures in the cylinders of the hammer were taken with "strunny~ ye khcdografy" ("strinrz m,,v,,- grapM 9), and the cylinder pressure with 4lectric carbon indlcat'~rs. The air consumption in the bcttom cylinder is extrac-rdinarily low; about 2.6% of the en- tire air volume used by the hammer, Test resultr, provedthe workable. The hammer is highly stable during Idle strDkes (rocking,", and Its displacementi in operation are 6 .- 8 tiaras smaller than with ccriventionaL vibration da=inp~. The vibration amplitude of the foundaticn block is 0.08 mm, and the vibration frequency about 2 cps. Engineer G.I. Bezzubyy of the Taganrog Harniesting Ccnbiri,~ Works tock part In tb,~- rests. (Gorlkiy)t no. 49 '1961,-0--7661h) TEXT: It is shown that rare earth elements (REE) in a hexamethylene tetramineborate buffer medium of pH 7 react with both quinalizarin and Na alizarin sulfonate to form colored products of 1:1 composition with maximum light absorption at 560-590 and 520-540 mp respectively.Thd. spec.trsaral characteristics of the reaction products are similar for the different REM. For both reagents the mol. absorption coefficient is of the order of 13,000-17,000. The sensitivity of the reaction increases with the atomic number of the REE. The colored products of theME reaction were used for photometric*determination of Lu, Gd and Er in solutions of their salts. These reagents cannot be used for separate determination of th6 REE where occur together. [Abatrvoterl.a note: Complete translation.] Card 1/1 KURD411A, N.V.; PAVLMIKO, O.F. PERIODICAL: PI) 157-1~79. Beton i Zhelezobeton ) 19561 14r At , ABSTRACT: Tha author describes the change in m,_~thcd of tunncl constructions from in3itu roinforced concrete to rre- cr,st reinforced concrete blocks forming a turnel lining which, in many case,,, reduces the size of the excava- tions and material used and (,specially saveS on con- struction time. Experience n-ained by the (Kavgiprotranp) Kavkaz Planning institute Eives a fair idea of when it is practicablr--, to use pre-cast concr:~te lining- for these constructions. Calculations of these circular shape linings were carried out in the Metrogiprotrans. Another method of calculation was presented by Candidate of Technical Science C.A. Orlov which takes into account the possibility of the bending of joints. This second mcthod of calculation is more economical. There are ci,,-ht figures. 1. Railroad tunnels--Construction 2.
