The stimulation of pericardial !eccptors by chemical sithstances in any concentration
caused only pressor reactions fit .111 cats with denervated carotid sinkise". Howeve-,
these reactions could be observed only in 25% of the cats with intact carotid iinust-s.
A cumulative effect of Cue separate actions of these stimulants on the blood pressure
was found in these 25% of cats on clamping of the carotid arterv on the background
of aslight rise of blood pressure caused by not very strong stimulation of tile pericar-
dial receptors. On the contrary, if the carotid artery was clamped on the background
of a considerable rise of the blood pressure caused by a strong stimulation of the peri-
Fardium, these effects depressed each other reciprocally, as a result of which an
inversion in the carotid reflex was noted.

ABSTRACT: Experiments with respect to the influence of various factors
on the zone extension of the precipitates of various
difficultly soluble compounds suggest the following
conclusionst The width of the zone of a precipitate is
determined 1) by the solubility product of the difficultly
soluble precipitato, 2) by the concentration of the solution
investigated, 3) by the volume of the drop investigated, and
4) by the nature of the precipitate. On otherwise equal
conditions (2 - 4) the width of the zone depends only on the
solubility product, and decreases with its decreasing value.
Therefrom a quick and simple method can be derived for the

ABSTRACT: In previous papers (Refs 1-3) two different polyphosphate
fractions were found in the mentioned funGi species: a) a frac-
tion which in soluble in acids, and b) a fraction which is not
soluble in acids. The first is apparently in a free state in
the cells, whereas the latter is connected with any cell corpo-
nents. According to the evidence obtained in the laboratory of
the authors they are bound to the ribonucleic acid (MIA) by
forming the complexes mentioned in t,e title. In the present
paper the authors tried to solve the problem of the existence
of such complexes in a new way: they investioated the electro-
phoretic homoE;eneity of the latter. Table I gives the analytical
Card 1/4 data which characterize the isolated preparation of the mentioned

complex. There is no doubt that it is of polyphosphate na-ture.
The authors succeeded under the Civen experi-.iental conditions
in separating a. mechanical mixture of polypho-,phate and RITA
with different ratios of the components. An experiment with
the polyphanphate r1bonucleic complex from AsperEillue nij7,er
un-ler the same conditiors proved its olectrophoretic homogeneity
(Fig 2c). From the above mentioned it can be concluded that
the clectrophoretic mobility of the complex -approaches ,
rather closely that of RITA. However, it is 3hifted to a certain
extent towards the direction of the polyphosphate. Thus the
results obtained in tha paper larEely confirin the conception
concerning the existence of polyphosphate ribonucleic co=~plexes
in the cells of low or&ani35L3 (among them also A.niger) as
actually existing compounds. ProfessorS.Ye. Bresler and V.D.
Uspenskaya collaborated in this paper. -.i----re are 3 fi(;ureg,

ABSTRACT: In the construction of small-size turbacompressors with a radial turbine, a
very complicated part must be cast. This component is a wheel with nineteen blades, as
shown in Fig. I of the Enclosure. Chromium-nickel-titanium steel, grade Er787L, with a
high manganese content is generally used, the composition of which is given in detail. In
the present study, the steel was smelted in an open, 50 kg, high-frequency induction furnaces.
and the strength was tested at various temperatures (550-650C) after tempering and aging.
The durability of the steel was very high. Even when foreign objects hit the blades they were
only bent wid did not brork. The EI787L steel had good casting properties, the thinnest parts
of the blades being cast satisfactorily.' The disadvantage of this steel, as with all steel

castings and alloys containing titanium and aluminum, was the formation of spots when 1
casting was not carried out in a vacuuan. This defect was eliminated when a vacuum was
used for melting and casting. Castings of this grade of steel have been used on turbocom-
pressors for over 2, 0.00 hours without replacement. Orig. art. has: 3 figures and 2 tables.1
