Melioration Station. During a 3-hour period, the
water permeated a 2.1-mm zhick layer of ground plowed
in autumn, whereas it h,'10 penet.rated. as depp as 220 mm
into a meadow overgrown with several-years-old grass.
Analogous observations have been carried out by V.A.
Ljolov'yev, V.M. Gribov, and G.A. Ga.ryu(,iii, the latter's
place of observation bein!- the !'orsianovskaya opytno-
meliorativnaya stantsiya- Testing and Lle-
lioration Station). N.A. Mosiyenko and Academician
I.V. Larin, VASMIL, are obviouoly wrong in recommen-
din[~, norms of 2,200-.3,000 and 2.000-2,500 m3/ha re-
spectively. The Agrofiz`.cheskiy instittit (Agrophysi-
cal Institute) while carrying out drilling experiments
at the Engel's Melioration Station has found that a

ABSTRACT: A series of experiments were conducted to determine the effect of the
number cfblades on the performance characteristics of a mixed-flow compressor with an
exit blade angle of 900. The obtained results show that for a compressor with a
rotor din-ter on the order of 130 mm, the optimum nijuber of blades Is about 14.
A reduction in the number of blades results in an increase in the optimum discharge
coefficient 1. For example, when the number of blades is reduced from 14 to 4, 4
increases from 0.23 to 0.25. This increase is due to the decrease in the angle of
attack, since the latter in directly proportional to the number of blades. The pre-
sented curves can be used to calculate compressor performance characteristics. Orig.
