ABSTRACT: The principle of operation of the electric-power generator with a I
reciprocating motion is explained. Some experimental datae obtained from a 500-w
laboratory model of a variable-reluctance generator are reported. These findings
are offered: (1)Unlike in the conventional a-c generators, the emf and maximum
output power in a variable-reluctance reciprocal generator increase up to an
optimal point and then fall off with the increasing excitation current; (2) There ip'
an optimal value of the height of the moving core which corresponds to a maximum ii
output power; (~) The.generator capacity i5 proportional to the fill factor of the:
moving core; (4) With the fill factor exceeding a certain value, the relation

which causes considerable ripple in the excitation current; (5) At 33 cps# the

a co-m-parison and analysis of equations connecting the weight of an electric
r-,,otor with its frequency and rotation speed with fixed po-aer indices. On the
basis of these oquations, computorizod desim, of 5-100 kilowatt motors 'Ath
-Orcquoncies ovor 50 cycles per second was performod, A basic 50 cycle machine was
used for cmnparison. It is dotanninod that whon a fixed rotation speed of not
over 3000 rp-n is used, increasing the frequency of operation of the rotor
