Special emphasis is placed ont 1) the probable presence of clouds of medium and high strata and the number of clouds at each stratum rated on a scalet from 0-2, 3-7p and 6-10 points; and 2) strati- fication of cloudat probability of 3-j 2_~ and single-layer overcast. The study was conducted in order to improve weather forecasting for aviation purposes. Data were collected mainly during the ascent at 4 a.m. and 4 p,m. (every other day)# The average height of the ascent was -, 7 Ian. The heights of lower and upper limits of the clouds were registered for only the lower and medium strata; those Card 1/2 IL 2336-M iACCES51ON NRI AT5022395 3 for the high strata (especially its upper limits) were insufficient for a statistical study, Clouds of the upper stratum were observed in 45 cases, in 65% of which they would have been obscured from the earth's surface by unbroken clouds 1 of the lower or inedium stratum. 'It van found that in the lower stratum the probability of a clear sky increases toward evening and that the reverse is true for the upper stratum. The study of the vertical cloud structure over Sverdlovsk has shown that a three-layer stratum was found in 211% of all cases, single-layer stratum 111 23%, and various combinations of two-layor cloud cover were found in 32%. The specific viscosities of the products showed the presence of low-molecular substances. A decrease in reaction temperature raised the spacifio viscosity of the copolymorl this being characteristic of an anion- ic mechanism of polymerization of the mo'nomers. Since the Grignard reagents conati- Itute a complex equilibrium mixture and because of the presence of (14gX)+, (mmg)+ or i (Mg)++ ions, the initiation of the copolymerization may involve a stage of formation ,of intermediate complexes; in this casep the nature of the sol"nt and the conditions lof the reaction medium play a considerable part in the initiation process. Pu- tilova and Docent G.A. Raytsyn in Nr 7 of this periodical was published at the proper time, as it substantiates the necessity to bring the teaching of chemistry closer to the speciality of the respective vtuz, to revise the theoretical part of the courso's program and to entitle the various vuzes to compose their own programs according to their individual sections. The authors (Personnel of the Chairs of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry of the Novocherkassk Polytechnical In- stitute) set forth in the present article their considerations Card 112 on the suggestions of I.N. Since the number of students coming from plants is increasing year to year, and as many of them require a review course, the most important sections of elementary chemistry should be retained. The idea of specializing chemistry according to the type of vuz is ab- solutely correct. There is 1 Soviet reference. ASSOCIATION: Novocherkasskiy politekhnicheskiy institut imeni S. Class 118, No. l8h090 (announced by the Kazan Chemical Engineering Institute imeni S. M. Kirov (Kazanskiy khimiko-tekh- nologicheskiy institut)) SOURCE: Izobret prom obraz tov zn, no. 14, 1966, 130 TOPIC TAGS: cadmium, electrolytic deposition, metal plating ABSTRACT: This Author's Certificate introduces a method of electroly-tic cadmium plating from electrolytes based on cadmium sulfate with the addition of ethylenedi- waine and joiner's Slue. High quality-coatings are produced by deposition from an electrolyte containing complex compounds of cadmium with pyrophosphate having the following composition: cadmium sulfate (CdSO4-2-51i2O) -26 g/ij potassium pyrophos- phate (K2P2O7t3H2O)-200 g/X; joiner's glue-1 g/t; ethylenediamine (20% aqueous so- lution)--20 ml/t. The plating is done at a current density of 0.5-1.0 a/dm2 and a temperature of 25-600C. In bacteria cultivated on -the modiwa with II and transferred to the modium with unlabeled thio- sulfate it waa shown that in the first place elementary sulfur of the colls was motabolizod, while the protein- bouryl sulfur was insignificantly charged. It was ostab- lishod by fractionization of the bacterial colls that -10% of the radioactive sulfur was contained in the alcohol--oolublo fraction, 30~ In the protoin-bound frnotion., aixi the romIning radioactivity was contained in the olomontary sulfur.
