ABSTRAM. The authors point out first that development of fast Infrared spectro-
meters was hampered in the.past. by the lack of inertialess detectors. In view of
the recent avallability of a number-of quickoresponse detectors with time.constants~
10-6--10-8 sec for a very.broad portion of the spectrum., they constructed a model
of an ultrafast spectrometer of original design (T=entor's Certificate Ho'
625090/26,,'13 April 1959p issued to 0. D. Dmitriyevskiy)s with three cowterrotating
mirrors to scan the spectrum. The optical.diagram of the monochromator used is
shown in ng, 1 of the Raclosure. , The spectrum scanning time in such a mono
chromtor Is 5 times less thanin a similar monochromator with a single mirror.
A quick-response detector-la used., -V-tth the mirrors rotating at -3000 rpm# a
p interval of the spectrum can-be'registeredlin 40 psec. A sample spectrum is
shown. The spectrometer ww used to obtain a series of measurements of'trIplet-
tripiet absorption in dilute dye solutions subjected to pulsed photoexcitation.
