ABSTRACT; The corrosion resistance (CR) of gradea EYal-T
Zh-1 stainless steels in various tomato media was investigat d as
well as the effect of the contact of stainless steel and capper on the
CR of steel. Apart of the specimens was tested with a weldin
seam of the same grade steel, CR was determined by the lossgin
weight. The steels investigated a.re fairly resistant to tomato ro-
ducts of various concentrations, p
same CR as the parent metal. CR of st eldin sulfites possess the
pulp conts.ining 0.2% H2S03 proved inadequate, and thereforet the to
gradea investigated cannot be recommended for use ~n equipment

formation. Preliminary experiments were carried aut to determine i , the
contact period which must elapse before the acidity of the reacting mass
becomes constant, and the percentage extraction of A as dependent on its
concentration in the initial sulfate solution. Results: 2' 15 - 20 min;
optimum A concentration ti20 g~litere D and the stage Il sulfate solution
oontaining 20 - 25 g/later of A pass continuously into oximator 1 (Pig. 1)
of stage I. The resulting mixture is passed into 2, where .~t is
neutralized with gaseous NH~o The bottom layer in separator 3, spent
sulfate solution, is passed into an evaporator, the upper o~,~.8 (oxime
solution and B~ into collector 4, and thence into stage II oximator 5,
where it is mixed with a new A solution. NSA is used in the stage II
neutralizer 6. The upper oxime layer in separator 7 passes to the next
stage, and the sL?Bate solution passes via collector 6 into oximator 1.
A stoichiometric ratio must be preserved between the fresh amounts of $ and
A fed into 1 and 5. There are 1 figure and 2 tables.
