to the air. Its basic data are:.engine-power 11hp; pull
on grapple while hauling 170 kg; strain on cable while
towing at ls-b speed (wind-speed 7m/s) 150 k&; strain on
cable while towing at 2nd speed (wind-speed 5 m/s) 120
kg; strain on cable while towing at 3rd speed (wind-speed
0 '. 2 m/s) 70-65kg; strain on cable while towing at
4th speed (wind-speed Omls) 45kg. The winch9s top-
speeds are 30 km/h over 'Land and (when fitted with skids)
60 km/h over snow. The KAI-TL is fitted with the motor
and power drive of an IZh-49 motorcycle and the a/c
Card 1/2 generator from a K-125 motorcycle. The winding dr= takes

ABSTRACT: The occurrence of numerous concretions, which are found in
Hauturivian, Barremian, and Aptian ~Iays, are a characteristic
feature of the Lower Cretaceous sediments in the Uloyanovsk
region along the Volga River. The shape.- sizeq and type of
occu;7rence of these concreZ40nj~ vary. They are chiefly dark
colo;?ed - dark gray, dark brown., or black. They are
frequently dense, rather firmly cemant-3d, and contain a
network of numerous contraction. fissures, which are filled
by coarse crystalline calcite. Most investigators (A. P.
Pavlov, Ye. Y. Milanovskiy-, N. T. Zonov, N. G. Konovalova,
K. S. Berezina, V. V. Panashchatenko, atlo.) have designated'
these concretions by various nitmes; thay have all regarded

V. I. Loginova and Ye. A. KrzLlAollkovskaya, they are IlelV.,

have studied these conoretions u9ing the method of
V. W. Vinokurov (Kazan'statfj University - Kazanskiy
gosudarstvennyy universitet). Thia method consists of
dete:.-mining the average specifa~,, magnetic susceptibility of
the ijample (in powder form). Tha reaults of their experiments
are listed in Table 1 , alozig n-th a cherical analysis (made

(on ethyl benzene used) was obtained with a proportion 1:1 of ethyl
ben--ene-formaldehyde. The optimum yield of iso-propylbenzyl chlori-
de was 80 0% on the cxuaene used and with a proportion of cumene:for-
maldehyde of 3:1, temperature 70-750C, time 25 hours. The authors
stlidied the oxidation of isomeric xy.lolchlorides vilth dilute (10
nitric acid with an optimum yield of toluic acido, of 89 % for pe-
riodo of 17-1.8 hours. Later, in connection with-the discovery of
nitroproducts, the concentration of acid was out down to 7-5 % and
the times to 12-10 hours. The yield obtained was 85 %. On. oxidation
of iso-propyl benzy'L 4!hloride, besides iso-propyl benzoic acid,
whose yield was up to 80 c1,, 20 % of a product was obtained which
