Leningrad, 1958, pp 457-461 ABSTRACT: The effect of.alloying elements C, Si, P, Cr, Mo, W, and V on the tendency of steel toward temper brittleness (TB) was investigated. It is established that C does not significantly affect the TB. Although it does not increase the TB of carbon steel, Si,increases the TB of Cr- steel. In quantities up to lo/b, the effect of Cr on TB of steel is very limited; at a concentration of 2. 80/6, however, Cr sharply increases the TB of steel. An increase in the P content also produces TB. In amounts up to 10/6, W tends to suppress TB in Cr, Cr-Si, Cr--V, and Cr-V-Ni steels. 1. G. TITLE: On Some Methods Employed for the Mass Production of Po-OC -Be -Neutron Sources (0 nekotorykh metodakh massovogo izgotovleniya Po-GC-Be neytronnykh istochnikov) PERIODICAL: Atomnava energiya, 1958, Vol. 51 Nr 1 , pp. 64--67 (USSR) ABSTRACT: For the production of Po-rk-Be neutron sources one of the wet methods is* abo7e all, described. This method consists in the production of a uniform mixture of polonium and beryllium by causing a polonium solution combined with nitric acid to act upon beryllium povider. The mixture obtained is dried and pulver- ized. A method is described by means of which it is possible to obtain nitric acid polonium free from a copper oarTier. In Vlew of its high degree of neutron activity existing during the entire technical production process,!the method described is, however, unsuited for the mass production of the preparation concerned. For mass production a method developed by Brean, Hertz, which Card 1/2 was, improved by the e~.ithors, is very well suited. Copper powder Ori Some Methods Employed for the Mass Production SOV/89-5-1-6/28 of Po-or,-Be Neutron Sources containing a known quantity of polonium zlO is weighed into a container, which is then filled with ber7lli= powder. During the following heating of the hermetically closed container the polonium is sublimated, after which it is uniformly distributed in the mixture. By employing this method it is possible, without an7 danger to the opprating staff, to produce neutron preparations up to 2,1 + 0,2 a loll 4/seo from 1 0 polonium 210. After the division marked changes developed in the capillaries of the central and peripheral portions of the nerve: their size in- creased and tortuosity appeared. especially in the endoneural capillaries. At the site of severance the capillaries lost their structure, and they were interwined in an irregular manner. The farther away the examined nerve portion was from the site of section, the less were the changes observed in the capillaries; however, the process of capillary damage may spread up. to the gray matter of the cord. The de- gree of structueal changes in the capillary network is directly related to the dufa- tion of the experiment. Berlin - Leningrad (S) AW ISHAVAMSELVILI, N.S. An accumulation of con- nectivo tissue cells of psoudoblastoma was observed on the wound surface which did not Undergo further differentiation. The regener- ato (R) emerged as a result of the stump Card 1/3 POLAND General Biology. Individual Dovelopmont. B ReSenoration. Abe Jour Ref Zhur - Biologlya, No 4, 1959, No. 14385 tissuos' growth. R presented thin outgrowths usually ramified at the end, along the organ axis cartilage, beyond which it was not seg- mented into individual elements. Regeneration was absent in denervated extremities. In case of regeneration, the nervous trunk was included in the cartilago, it ramified there and pene- trated into the surrounding tissues. Ampu- tation of R was not accompanied by the formation of pseudoblastoma. Only stump tissuos grow. Regeneration of R occurred even when the extremity was denervated. ' It is shown th 4 mm, Hg, the surface state is ch: when the substrates are heated in a lacuum of 10- anged with a favorable effect.on epitaxy. The phase composition of the*.film, may be control- led by proper seiection'of the substrate. The fields of anisotropy.of the films are measuked and the eff ect which application of-a magnetic field during vaporization'bas Ims on the magnetic anisotropy of the films Is atudied.'.The domain structure of theefi and its dynamics are analyzed and-the results are-used,as a basis for explaining the shape of-hysteresis' loops. The coercive force is measured in films'of various thick- ness. 'It is shown that the coercive force of the. films is always Much . Particular emphasis is placed on technical and economic indices characterizing the organizational and technical level of production. The book basically utilizes data gathered from practical experience at plants engaged in building large seagoing ships. It is intended for engineers and technicians of hull and of assembly shops of shipyards. TABLE OF CONTENT (abridged]: 1 card 1/2 ACC NR- AM7002948 Introduction -- 3 Ch. 1.
