J,,@ffect of Antibiotics on the Aerobic Intestinal Flora of Adults" Budapest Acta Microbiologica Academiae ScientiariLm Hungaricao, Vol 9, No 4, 19W63; pp 3 7-326. Abstract [Authors' English summary]; (1) The aerobic intestinal flora of 60 pa ients has been analyzed quantitatively. Mainly as a result of erythromycin therapy, in 22 patients reduced coli counts were observed, which showed a rapid and spontaneous tendency for normalization. The decrease in coli count was influenced exclusively by the antibiotic sen- sitivity of the strain. (2) Other Vembers of the aerobic flora often overgrow when chloramphenicol. oxytetracycline and especially ery-thro- mycin were administered. No association was shown between the dosage of these drugs and the coll. count. (3) Benign enteric complications were observed only in 3 patients, of whom 2 received erythromycin. The enteric 1/2 Eudapest, Acta ldcrobiologica Academiae Soientlarum Hungaricae, Vol 9, No 4, 19627@T. pp 317-)28 [Continuod)s complications were explained neither by the reduction in coll count, nor by the presence or predominance of other members of the aerobic flora. (4) The mechanism of the normalization of the coli flora and the etiologic possibilities of enteric complications have been discussed. C22 references. of which n Western]. By interaction with hydrogen sulfide, resulting in the formation of nickel sulfidep a chemical decoration of the gliding lines is possible which allows, by normal and electron microscopic tech- niques, to study the mechanically activated surface areas of single and .polycrystalline nickel. Annealing after the mechanical working results first in a decrease of the chemical activity and thent at sufficiently high. temperatures, in a complete lose of activity and chemical decors- Card-1/2- 2/21, , A Nunn s ges of Soviet Zlactrophotogra;hy; . The grating co.n- sists of two parallel infinite plane systems of equally spaced conducting bands so disposed that the bands of one system are directly opposite the gaps between the bands of the other system. The ircident waves are assmed to be polarized with the electric vector parallel to the conducting bands but they may be obliquely incident on the grating. The physical optics approximation employed in the calculations re- quires that the open space between two successive conducting bands be wider than the wavelength divided by 2 n. Formulas are derived for the reflection coefficient of the specular ray and the intensities of the diffracted rays. When the incidence is normal and the separation between the two band systems is a quarter wavelength the reflection coefficient vanishes. The reflection coefficient is presented graphically 1/2 UDC:.538.566 Card ACC NR: Ap5025892 as a function of the grating spacing and as a function of the separation between the two plane band systems for two values of the ratio of the width of a band to the Sep- aration between the bands. The formula obtained for the normal incidence transmis- sion of a single plane grating by substituting zero for the separation between the tw plane band systems in the equation derived here was compared with the results of more rigorous calculations by V,V.Ualin (Radiotekhnika I elektronika, V111, No. 2, 1963) and with experimental data obtained with 3.2 cm microwaves and a number of differpnt copper gratings. Good agreement was obtained. The authors than T.H.Shavishvil&,;90 participated actively In setting up the experiments and performed the measurements. Orig. art. has: 27 formulas and 5 figures. Me maltose- splitting anzyr)e of both species and the sucro3o-splitting enzy@m of P. grubyi arc identical to enzymes found in other yeasts. The sucrose-splitting enzyme of C. brumptii represents a new) acetone-resistant type. Neither of the two species produced invertase. The difference between the sugar assimilation and sugar fermentation spectra of the organisms examined Is due to a difference in their sugar transportation systems. Orig. art. has: ?d figures. Abstract A method of polarographic determination of concentration by polarographing solutions with the addition of the same substance in known concentrations was developed. It was established that the best results were obtained, if the added solutions had been also polarographed additionally. Abstract: Murphine and its accompanying alkaloids were ob- tained in a good yield from an extract of poppy seed pods by means of adsorption on granulated ion- exchange resin (n-form). For industrial applica- tion, the hydrochloric acid - alcohol el'ution me- thod is most efficient. The de ee of the resin's porosity must be t 50%. over 7@- of morphine was adsorbed on the porous sulfonic resins (air-dried). The method is recommended for the industrial pre- paration of morphine from the extraction juice. Card 1/1 6 KULIYEV, R-Sh.;-KEVERKOVA, I.S.; MUSAYEV, G.T.; AYRAPETOVA, E.K. TITLE: Cold curing of epoxy-polyester resin @OURCE: Plasticheskiye massy*, no. 3, 1964, 17-19 TOPIC TAGS: epoxy polyester resin, curing,'hardening, curing agent, inflammable fiberglas , self extinguishing.'fiberglass, Initiator, accelerator, cold curing ABSTRACT: The process of cold curing (at 18-22C) epoxy-polyester resin (EPR) (a mixture of epoxy ED-5 or ED-6 resin, styrene, and unsaturated polyester resins) was studied. The process is feasible with 2 types of mixed three-component curing agents: (1) organic peroxide + aromatic tertiary amine + organic dicarboxylic acid an- hydride, or (2) organic hydroperoxide + organic salt of a variable valence metal + organic dicarboxylic acid anhydride. By varying the ratio of the initiator and accelerator components of the hardening agent, the curing tXme can be varied from 2-3 hours or more to 8 minutes. Inflammable fiberglas samples were prepared using 1/2 Card ACCE SION NR: AP4018160 .ASTT(b)S-8/3 glass cloth with an EPR (ED-5 + polyester made from ethylene glycol, maleic, and phthalic anhydrides and adipic acid) and benzoyl peroxide, dimethylaniline, and maleic or methyltetra- .hydrophthalic anhydrides. Jieat treatment at 125C for 5 hours and subsequently at 160C for 5 hours gave fiberglas with high mechanical; strength, especially high static bending (4500-4800.kgs/cm2). Self- extinguishing fiberglas samples'prepared similarly from chlorine- containing polyesters also had fairly high mechanical strength (static bending 3800-4400 kgf/cmL). "S. Ya.
