Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian swmnary] In the introduction, the authors
s umna e the theories concerning the pathogenesis of polycythemia.
vera. The method, by which the 17-ketosteroid, 17-hydroxycorticoid
and aldosterone excretion was determined on 10 patientu, is described.
Nine patients showed an elevated excretion of 17-ketosteroid while
the 17-hydxoxycorticoid excretion was elovated in all cases. Based
on their results, the role of the neuroendocrine system is proposed
in the disease. No new evidence was obtained for the influence of
the neuroendocrine system on the erythropoietic factor. 1 Hungarian,
