'TlTLE3 Connecting the Problems of Economy to Life (Svyazyvaya pro- blemy ekonomiki. a zhizn1yu) PERIODICALi Vestnik Vysshey Shkoly, 1957, # 7, pp 24 - 28 (USSR) ABSTRACTi The author reports on the work of the Chair of Political Economy at the Moscow Institute of Aviation, from the view- point that the political training of students has to be done not only outside teaching hours but also during lectures. The author then gives some examples of the educational activity of this institute and the work oJ." its instructorst Dotsent M.S. Dragilev, who is demonstrating in his lectures the effect of Marxist economic laws on capitalist industry and the resultant ruin of the working classes in the USA, Bn~and and the other capitalist countries; Dotsent I.A. Vya min who is dealing in his lectures with problems of socialist indu- stry, and the great educational oxperience shown by Dotsent M.M. Litvin. There are, however., some deficiencies due to the fact that the treatment of socialist industry has often a dog- matic character. He also critis,'Lzes the neglect in the educa- Card 1/2 tion of the masses in the sense of communist conscioreness. 'Connecting the Problems of Economy to Life 3-7-6/29 In this connection the author states that the educational work must be supported by the organization and methodical work of the Chair. Various operational nr,--.ctices viere tried. As a result optimwu operating congitions i-.-ere established: temperature of the bath, 55 - 60 - txh I C, acidity of mother lio-uor 5 - concentration of pyridine bases 8 - 11 g/litre. Under these conditions, an average out-out of -)yridine bases of '? kg per i ton of sulphate was obtained. Continuous treatment of the mother liquor from the same saturator is permissible as no decrease in the concentration of bases in the mother liauor takes place. A high acidity of mother liquor (8%) is harmful as the absorption of pyridine bases is not ikDroved while the quality of ammonium sulphate deteriorates. There are 5 tables. Its safety factor equals 9. The trapezoidal wing with rounded tips has a main spar and second auxiliary spar for the wing-center plane attachment and for the support of the ailerons. The main-spar fitting is connected with the wing-center plane by two tapered bolts. The fore part of the wing is covered with plywood.1 to 2 mm. thick which extends to the main spar. The ailerons, consisting of 2 parts, extend along the entire span of the wing and are attached by hinges. The aileron control consists of a system of cables, brackets and horns. Slots at the wing tips are permanent auxiliary wings; each wing has 10 slots and 2 air brakes made of 900 x 100 x 2.5-mm. aluminum alloy plates. These*slots prevent stalling of the wing even at critical angles of attack. Card 1/3 BK-4 "Kaunas" Glider 85-58-7-22/45 The "monocoque"-shaped fuselage consists of four " longerons and formers covered by plywood 1.5 to 2 mm. thick. The aft end of the fuselage has a vertical'fin. The elevator is placed in front of the rudder. The stabilizer is fi_xed to the, fuselage by a small wing-center panel. The cockpit is made of organic glass. The instrument panel is equipped with 6 devices. The glider has 3 hooks: (1) for catapult starts; (2) for towing by plane and (3) for automobile-towed starts. All three hooks are controlled by one lever and operate simulatneously. On reaching angles that exceed 45.* during automobile-towed starts, the hook opens auto- matically. The glider proved satisfactory in practice and Kaunas glider pilots made many successful flights in it. The author states he has already begun work on a new record-sotting BK-5 gliderwhich theoretically will give a lift-drag ratio not lower than 33. The following data is provided on the BK-4 glidor: length - 6.5- M.; height - 0.97 m.; wing span - 14 m. ; wing area - 13.2. m-2; empty weight - 190 kg.; flight weight - 290 kg.; ailei~lon area - 2.9 m. Tekhnicheskaya kibernetika, no. 6, 1966, 13-16 f UPIC TAGS: maximum principle, game theory, algorithm, linear differential equation, cconomic organizati6n ABSTRACT: The necessary conditions of the optimality of strategies in a differential N-perso fixed-tinie game are formulated on the basis of the maxim-urn principle of Pontryagin et al. (Pontryagin, L. S. , et al. Matematicheskaya teoriya optinial'nykh protsessov. Fizmatgiz, 1961). The existence,of a unique solution satisfying the maidmum principle is proved for a N-person linear differential game. It is shown that the pertinent algorithm for finding optimal strategies solves simultaneously also the problem of synthesis, i. e . makes it possible to determine the optimal strategies as a function of the initial. conditi8nAof the differential N-person game. A game of this kind may be interpreted as the production process of N econo- Cord 1/2 ACC NR-' AP7002235 mic associations functioning within the framework of a certain system. The ultimate goal of each association is the maximization of some indicator of performance (e.g. profits) as de- termined with respect to a finite set of states of the overaR1 system, in the presence of disjoint regions of permissible economic stratgies of the associations. If all the associations but one adhere to their optimal economic strategies, only the indicator of performance of the associa- tion deviating from the optimum may decrease. A tvo-sten heat treatment of the L1z0-SiO -Na O-K O-AI203 d~ system, with noble metals (Ag, Pt) [amounts J, as Card 1/ 3 L 20281-63 ACCESSION-1111i AP3007380 nucleating agents, in considered. The samples were first heated for 2 hr to the nucleation temperature And then held there for 0.5-60 hr. In the second stem the temperatute was increased to the crystallization tenpcrntur~ in 1 hr and maintained at this level for 0.5-10 hr. ihem samples were then c)boled for about .12 hr. Dilatometric And microscopic studies of the sample shosted a uniform, fine-grained structure and saftening. point About 400C higher titan that of the noncrystalline pJASS. Thermal treatment resulted in maximum hardness (1113.5 kj,/nm2 as against 700 kg/mm2 for the noncrystalline glass) for samples heated for 12 hr At the nucleation temperature and for 2 hr at the ciystallization temperature. The noble metals studied were similar in behavior As nucleating Agents, probably owing to the fact that they were present in colloidal form nt temperatures below the softening point. Glass ceramics obtained by this process can be used afi substitutes for agate, certain precious stones, and high-grndc steels. The production cost Is on the order of that for ruby glass.
