TITLE: Photoelectric Observations of Magnetic Stars

TEXT; This article, being the continuation of articles published In (Ref.
2 and 9) "Acta Astronomloa" 10, 31, 1960, and 10, 119, 196o, contains the results
of additional photometric observations of 53 Cam and HD 71866 and new results of
HD 32633, HD 200311 and HD 215038. The 53 Cam shows periodic variations in luminos-
ity in blue and yellow with the mean amplitude OT015. There is a phase shift of tle
order of 0.2 P between light curves for these two colors. The HD 71866 shows peri-
od.ical variations with a mean amplitude of OT035 in blue, OT-015 in yellow. The
n 32633 and the HD 200311 show irregular variations in luminosity. The light of
HD 215038 varie's probably periodically with an amplitude of the order OT1 and peri-
od 1197. In the present investigation the 52 Cam (HD 65339) has been studied in
27 nights (970'comparisons) in two colors, their effective wave lengths correspond_
ing to Aeff = 4,200 and Aeff = 5,350. The method of observation was described be-
fore (Ref. 2). The newly obtained results are listed; the magnitude differences
between the reference star HD 65301 and 53 Cam are mean values; the number of com-

parisons from which this mean was taken is denoted by n. The photometric reaulta
obtained in Aoff - 5350 indicate that the amplitude in thia wave leingth Is of the
kipAme order ( 011"015); however there is a considerable phase shift - the minimurr. in
Aeff = 5,350 occuring about 0-2 P later than inX eff = 4,200. There is also a dif-
feience in the shape of the curves for these two colors. The photometric results
obtained inAeff = 4,200 distinctly confirm those of 1959. The combined results in
Aeff = 4,2n-o furnish the following elements of light variation; Minimum light
JD 2,437,002 - 4 + 8do24E. In the present investigation the HD 71866 star has

een studied in two colors during '28 nights (800 comparisons). The resultsin Xeff'
= 4,200 confirm those of 1959; the mean amplitude of light variation for this
effeotive wave length is OTO35. The epoch of minimum lightt JD 2,436,998 - 50 +
+ 0799E. The amplitude of light variation in Aeff = 5,350 is much smaller, being
of the order of OTO15; there is, however, a large random dispersion for individual
nights which is probably physically real. A comparison of magnetic variation and
light variation confirms the conclusion obtained in 1959; forAeff = 4,200 tlne
phase of' minimum light coincides strongly with the phase of maximLm positive mag-
netic field; there seems also to be a similar relationship for Xeff = 5,350. The
phase of maximum color index coincides with the ph"e of maxi!njm positive magnetic
field - thus being inverse to the case of 53 Cam. The RD 32633 star has been in-

vestigeted during 28 nights; 15 nights in 1960 and 13 in 1959. The measurements
were only made in Xeff = 4,200. HD 326o8 has been used as -the reference star. The
relative values of extinction were determined for everry night using the method de-
scribed in 'Ref. 2) (for HD 153882) - the corresponding corrections for extinction
did not exceed Om.002. To test the constancy of light of the reference star simUl-
taneous measurements of the differencesHD 32608 and HD 32574 were made (in 1,060
only). The obtained magnitude differences HD 326o8 - HD 32633 indicated that _U
32633 shows small variations in luminosity of the order of a few hundredths of a
ma&mitude It should also be noted that the mean value of the difference HD 32633-
- HD 326;6 was OT397 in 1959, while in 1960 the value was GT379. This differen,.e
was not baused by any instrumental change, since the results obtained in the case
of 53 Cam and HD 71866, both observed at the same time, show no systematic differ-
ences. The light. variations of this star are probably not periodic. The observa-
tion� of 1960 could eventually be satisfied by the period 545 which, however, does
not satisfy tne re,3ults of 1959. The value of the period 410, the previously as-
sumed valua of the magnetic variation period, is alsa excluded. Therefore it can
be assumed that the light of the star varies irregularly, similar to its magnetise
field. The HD 200311 star has been investigated in Xeff = 4,2C~3 during 9 nights.
(280 comparison-s). Three reference stars were used: HD 2oo4O7, HD 200103, HD
200020. The combined results of photometric observations indicate possible (rather

the best results were obtained with this compound as compared with aluminum- silicon
gel, sand, magnesium oxide, and alkoxy aluminum compounds, in preliminary studies.
Experimental results showed that it was possible to synthesize'triisobutylalumlnum,
tri-n-butylaluminum, and triethylaluminum in the presence of 1--3% A1203, and at an
initial hydrogen pressure of 10-15 atm , with full convexaion of hydrogen, but at a
reaction rate three times slower than that at 100 atm. The addition of A1203 does
not lower the quality of the end product. Trilsobutylalutainum was also synthesi2ed
at normal pressure'in the presence of A1203, with reaction rate 15 times slower than
