TEX2: Trhe complex permittivity 6* of barium titanate single crystals was
r-,,eaGured by simultaneously applying h-f and 1-f fields. A 25-250 cps 1-f field
vilith a field strength of 7 - 25 kv/cm yielded a hysteresis loop. A 5 - 200 kc
h-f field with a field strength much lower-than that of the coercive field was
superimposed on the said 1-f field (with a relaxation frequency of 30 kc).
Measurements in those points of the hysteresis loop, where the switching current
(ip) was maximum, showed that E* did not depend on frequency and amplitude of
the polarizing field, nor on the field strength of the h-f field in the range
of 10 - 120 v/cm. The frequency dependence of E;* at frequencies exceeding the-
relaxation frequency was found to be nearly linear and to be described by the
Debye equation of the spectral type. The nonlinear frequency dependence of (j*
at low frequencies is explained by the long relaxation '~..ime, The data obtained
