Solutions Benzoate in Ethanol of Electrolytos in lion-aqueous of Potassium Acetate and Potassium PERIODICAL: Zhurnal fizicheskoy khimii, 1960, Vol. 34, No-, 5, pp. 1021-1026 TEXT- In continuation of systematio investigations of the dependence of the ihermodynamic properties of electrolytes upon the nature of the solvent and the concentration of the solution (Refs. 1-3) the authoxg examined solutions of CH 3COOK and C6H5COOK in ethanol. The emf of the chain K(Hg)xl KAI AgA - Ag which has no ion transportg was measured in water ~1/ 0.1% 0 and ethanol at 25 C, the abovg-mentioned solutions being used in a wide concentration range. (Table 1: solubility of the salts. Table 2: results). The standard potentials were determined. The values E0 . 2,4765 and Bo - 2-1780 were obtained for CH 3COOK in water and othanol,, respectively, Card 1/2 Thermodynamic Properties of Electrolytes 8/076/60/034/05/13/038 in Non-.aqueous Solutions. IX.Solutions BO1O/BOO2 of Potassium Acetate and Potassium Benzoate in Ethanol whereas E0 a 2.4265 and E0 - 2.1795 hold for C 6H 5COOK in water and ethanol. From the values of E 0 the authors calculated the primary effect log y. in ethanol, and for CH 3COOK and C 6H5COOK they obtained log yll 41 2-52 and log 70 - 2-51, respectively. From the latter values tboy calculated the values of log 70 for acetic and benzoic acid in ethaiial (Table 3). Frr the emf values they calculated the concentration--activity coefficients y 1 for CH3COOK (up to 1.024 mole) and C 6H5COOK (up to 003535 mole) in ethancl. (Table 4)- Mention is made of N. A. V., Ivanova, Ye. I., Alekseyenko, L. A. TITLL: On the Compounds of Cerium Salts With Pyridine and quinoline (0 soyedineniyakh soley tseriya a piridinom i khinolinom) PERIODICAL: Zhurnal neorganicheskoy khimii, 1959, Vol 4, Ur 6, PP 1377 - 1381 (USSR) ABSTRACT: The interaction between cerium trichloride, cerium sulphate and pyridine and quinoline was investigated as well as the thermal resistance of these compounds and in the case of storage over sulphuric acid of different concentration. The stability of the hexathiocyanogen chromiate of cerium hexa- pyridine (CePY6][Cr(CIIS)6~ and that of the hexathiocyanogen chromiate of cerium hexaquinoline[Cequind .[Cr(CIIS) 61 were investigated. The production of the initial compounds was described in the experimental part, i.e. the production of cerium (III)-chloride of anhydrous cerium sulphate Ce 2(S04)31 of pyridine, and quinoline and 1CGPY6 . I(Cr(CIIS) 3 and Card 1/3 1Ceq u'n6 3CCrCNS)O. Cerium chloride re;cts with vaporous On the Compounds of Cerium Salts With Pyridine and SOV/78-4-6-27/44 Quinoline pyridine and quinoline under formation of compounds of different composition. Complexes with 3,7, and 10 molecules pyridine are formed in the case of a gradual reaction of cerium chloride and pyridine. The course of the interaction of cerium (III)-chloride with vaporous pyridine and quinoline is given in figure 1. Cerium sulphate doee not react with vaporous pyridine and quinoline in the temperature range of -15 - +200. The stability of the pyridine- and quinoline compounds of cerium is investigated. The experiments for the thermal dissocia- tion of these compounds were carried out in a special apparatus which is depicted. The pyridine loss of the compound CeCl 3.5.26py under a pressure of 11.5 torr at 21, 50, and 110 0 is given in figure 3. The pyridine lose of CeCl 3* 5.26Py at 500 under a presaure of 460, 163, and 11.5 torr is given in figure 4. The pyridine loss of the compounds CeCl 3' 7.85Py and CeCl 3' 9.69Py in the case of storage over sulphuric ucid of 44 and 64o is given in figure 5. The thermal stability of the compoands Card 2/3 CCePy~CCr(US)63 andCCeCjuin36' CCr(C1P,3)63 was investigated in On the Compounds of Cerium Salts With Pyridine and SOV/79-4-6-27/114 Quinoline the case of a change of pressure and temperature and is given in figure 6. The separation of the heterogeneous amine of the above mentioned compounds during the storage over sulphuric acid of 50 and 95J." was inveatigated. The course of the curves at 60 and 1000 shows that the pyridine- and quinoline complexes have different thermal stabilities. The increase of the anion charge removes the bonding strength between cerium and pyridine in the complexes. There are 7 figures and 3 references, 1 of which is Soviet. TITLEs Locking of Oscillator with Double-Tuned Circuit PERIODICALa Radiotekhnika i elektronika, 1960, Vol.5t, No.9, pp-1387-1397 TEXTs This is a continuation of an earlier article (Ref.1) in which it was shown that the synchronization band of a locked oscillator may be broadened by coupling a second tunod. circuit to the tuned circuit of the oscillator outside the feed.ba--k Icop. Steady-3tate oscillation in a synchronized oscillator-with two degrees of freedom was considered in Ref.2;3 (MLY for stron~ir coupling between the circuits. The present atudy concerns systems with weak coupling, approximating the vaituum tube characteristi-- by a cubit parabola. The feedboick ioefficient is taken as real. Title The variability of the biochemical properties of Protexis cultures, Periodical Mikrobiologiya, 23, 261-264, may/Jun 1954 Abstract Repeated investigations of the biochemical properties of 163 strains of Proteus vulgare, preserved in the laboratory for 2-3 years, showed that many of the characteristics usually used to systematize these microor- ganisms were unstable. On the basis of these investigations and other material found in literature, the author Peels that the division of a number of Proteus cultures into individual species, as is proposed in Ber- gey's manual and other manuals on determinative bacteriology, is insuffi- ciently justified. The discussion is supplemented by charts showing the results of experiments with Proteus mirabile, and a reproduction of a table from Bergey's manual. Fifteen references, 11 Soviet.
