with rotating poles for transfering alkali metals and their alloys is described. It
detailed description is given of one of the pumps. 'rho magnetic system of pumps, wl.tb
rotating poles does not differ in principle from the magnetic system of synchronous
machines. Special features involve a large air gap, a large number of ampere turns
and large excitation coils. The electromagnetic pump describo-~d has a capacity of
three cubic meters per hour when pumping an Na-K alloy at an oper&ting pressure of 1
4.5 kg/cm2. It operates at a maximum metal temperature of 5000C and is cooled by I;-.-
means of a centrifugal fan installed on the rotor. The nominal speed is 1500 X-pm; 'he!
excitation voltage is 110 volts and the efficiency is 10.7%. The pwop weighs 65 k'T. 1

two other pumps are briefly mentioned. To date, the instituto has fabricated ten
electromagnetic pumps with rotating poles which are excited by dc line current. One
of these pumps has been operating on an experimental basis for 1000 hr without fail-
ure, During frequent modification required by changes in the type of metal which is
transferred, no defects have been noted in the pump. Orig. art. has: 7 figures.

1ABSTRACT: This Author's Certificate introduces: 1. An impeller for an open centri-
ifugal pump. Pmp efficiency is improved and the rigidity of the impeller blades is
!increased by making the blades in the cylindrical section with a channel shape. The
!walls of the blade channel are recurved toward the front at a sharp angle to the
!walls of the pump housing. 2. A modification of this impeller in wh1ch the blade
!channel formed in the cylindrical section has a flat bottom. 3. A moft1fication of
this impeller"with U-shaped grooves in the flat bottom of the charinel on the working
side of the blade. These grooves are adjacent to the end surfaces of the blades.

function ZXT) has a simple physical Interpretation. Let there beigiven a layer, of~!
gas whose optical thickness In tho center of a line In sonie direction Is equal to
T, and assume that a continuous spectrum of radiation is imcident on this layer. If
the coefficient of absorption In the line has a Doppler ccmtouvi, then MT) Igives the
total number of quanta encountered during passage of even a single absorpti.on
event through this layer. Now assume that radiation In a i9pectral line Is Jnciden
on this layer. Let the frequency distribution of this radiation be proportional td
the coefficient of absorption. If -the relationship between the ci>efficient of ab-1
sorption and the frequency is determined by the Doppler effect alone, then the
number of quanta passing through the layer (without regard to sdattering) It; equal
to Mj(T). The function M2(T) determines the kernel of the fundarmintal inte pal'
equation which describes multiple scattering of resonance radia~ian in a one-di~len-
sional medium. Integration of MI(T) and M2(T) gives functions which am eixoun..).

F"HICE11CAL1 Razvedka i okhrana nedr, 1058, Nr 11, pp 22 - 24 (USSR)
;'~DSMACT: Thallium is usually found in various ore deposits in a highly
dispersed state, its content varies from 0,001 to 0.00C]. i.%
It varies even in the same given deposit. Owing to its
chalkophylic properties, thallium often accumulates in low-
temperature sulfides and sulfosalts of lead. Other deposits,
in which thallium could be found, are usually connected with
granite, granodiorite and diorite intrusions, and more often,
with shallow occurring intrusions of granite-pophyres, prano-
diorite-pophyres, quartz-porphyrea, albitophyres, liparites
and trachiliparites. Thallium can also be found in the hy-
drothermal deposits of non-ferrous metals plead, copper and
zinc), especially in multistage, metanomatic ore formations
with an increased content of antimony and arsenic. Some
~:ard 112 antimony-mercure, manganese deposits and some of microoline
Some Frospecting Indicators of Thallium 32--B-11 -6/17
granite massives also contain an admixture of thallium.

ABSTRACT: The following do osits of tin-ore were inventigateds cassiterite-

Bulatskoye. The deposits of the greisen type are without.
interest with respeot to the indium tenor. All together
2500 indium anaiyses were carried out; the polarographic
determinations by A. A. Rozbianskaya and the chemical determi-
nations by L. Ye. Novorossovaya gave rosult4i in agreement with
the spectrum anaj.ys,~s which rzre narried out by ff. V. Lizunov

Indium in Some Deposits of Tin,-ore in the Yakutiya SOT/7--59-4-5/9
indium was found in eome aumpleu of fran-,keitaiv, arnenopyrite
and manganosiderite. Numerous other mii-aerals were founa to be
free of indium (determination 1:. mit of the procedure 0.001A 1a).
An investigation of the behavior of indium in the ore formaticn
_Ln the cassiterite sulfide deposits (Tabie 7,) shows that t'he
main quantity of indium is concentrated in tho second (sulfide-
quartz..) and in the third (sulfide-sarbonat-i-) stage of the
mineralizat"on. The indium tenor in oaiiaitq.ritrj and wol.frainta
amount to 0.001 -- 0-005 ',;, tn the au_'fides higher by one to
two tenth powers; in sphalerites 0.3 114 at the most. 'Pliere arg

ABSTP '.T: Scandium is usually widely disseminated in nature; however,
in the last stages of crjstallization, while pegmatite and
pneumatolytic-hydrothermal processes reign, scandium can
become concentrated. The formation of wolframii;e-cassiterite
are, in this consideration, most interesting. A revie7 of the
publications on such scandium concentrations is given (Refs 1-4).
In 1955 the authors found scandium in quartz-tin-tungsten veins
of the granite massif of the Polousnyy Ratige. With respect to
the genesis and mineralogical-geochemical characteristics, these
occurrences have much in common with those of Ziiinwald (Erz-
gebirge). "he massif in concern in described. The primary vein
card 1/3 minerals are: quartz, topaz, zinnwaldite, muscovite, and fluorite.

Ore minerals aret wolframite, arsenopyrite, sphalerite,
molybdenite, minor galena, pyrite, chalcojyrite, bismuthite
and native.bismuth. Scandium war, found in wolfra-mite, cassitc-rile,
and zinnwaldite (Table 1, Figs 1.-3).. The chemical analysis
(analysist: S. N. Feaorchak,) qhows, after adapting to the
chemical formula, that huebnerite molecules predominate over
ferberite molecules. The minimum amount 6f Sc 203 in wolframite
was,O-OZu, the maximum,-O.1~, the average 0,07'/"j- Noteworthy
amounts of niobium (-,O,2~) and titanium (up to 0.0%So' TiO 2)
..Were also found in all the samples. In individual sample
tantalum was found. The scandium content is also given for the
two other minerals in which it is found. There are 3 fi&ares,

ABSTRACTs Three stages of bydrothermal activity can be distinguished
for voloanoo of the XuriloAssohatka voloanio manst
1, The stage of high activity during which temperatures in
the gas outlet channel higher than -the boiling pointp reach
the earthts surZace. These gases and vapore aro characterized
by temperatures of hundreds degreen al2d by a vory complicated
chemical composition'.
2. The stage of medium activityp during which temperaturea in
the gas outlet channels, exceeding tho boiling point, do not
reach the earth's surface. The tomperiLtures of osoaping games
usually do not exceed 1201to 1500 C. Their chenical composition
contains sulfurous gases and carbon dioxide.
3. The stage of weak activityO during which all gas outlet.
channels are filled with water. Due to thisi cirounstanosp only
