Abstract; For a quantitative determination of lead salts (FbSO,,,, Pbl,~,
.1, Fb(N03).,- and FbCrO,,,) they are dissolved in lff~KOj aimon-

iate M and are polarogr~jhed at 00, the half-wave potential
of Fb,;"t, in relation to the Hg-electrode, being -0-35 V. TO
prepare I the NF,~N03 is dried first at 1200, then for several
days over concentrated H,;JS0*, after which it is saturated, at
00, with gaseous ammonia dried over KOH. On car"g out the
analysis Pb salts are dissolved (0.18-3-37 g FbAt per liter)
in I and about 7 ml of the resulting solution are polarographed
by means of V 301 Heyrovdki pulAu%ji_4uph. Air is removed from

TITLE: A New Method of Lanthanum Isolation From a Mixture of Rare-Earth
Elements

TEXT- A simple method of isolating lanthanum from a mixture of rare-earth
elements is given. The method consists In repeated leaching of cerium-free Ian-
thanides with an NH4NO3 solution. Experiments were conducted with phosphate con-
centrate originating from Kola apatites and containing about 15% of rare-earth
elements. The concentrate was supplied by Docent Doctor T. Mazgaj, the Director
of the Instytut Nawoz6w Sztucznych (Institute of Synthetic Fertilizers) in Tarn-
6w. During the experiments, lanthanum oxide (La293) of about 99% purity was ob-
tained after three leachings. The repetition of the process leads to a morecom-
plete isolation of lanthanum oxide from the mixture. There are: 1 figure, 1
table and 10 references: 4 German, 4 English and 2 Soviet.

treated in 1964, 41% suffered from spinal disorders. As during
periods of hostilities the load on a soldier would be increased,
the authors assume that the number of soldiera needing medical
help would increase, and therefore a study of t' 'ae means by which
they could be sent to military houpitals was made-. All cases of
:tumors, or chronic inflammation of spinal discs should be sent to
,military hospitals. Chiropractic treatment in field hospitals
