TITLE: The Polymerizationlof EthylenelWith Metallic
Oxides Without a Solvent
PERIODICAL: Revista de Chimie, 1959, Vol 10, Nr 10, pp 593-596
ABSTRACT: Experiments on the polymerization )f ethylene
were conducted at ICECHIM at.a pressure of 35
-
atmospheres and a tempe
7-aTure of 100-15000, using
as catalyst a chrome oxide supported by silicon
aluminum. Figure 5 shows the schematic flow chart
for polymerization of~ethylene when a solvent is
used. When a solvent is not used, the following
installations are not necessary: A storage tank
for storing the solvent; a pump for introducing
the solvent in the reactor; and an installation
for the recuperation of the solvent containing

the solvent. The idea of replacing the solvent
by oxide catalysts was the result of systematic
experiments. The procedure in which polymeri-
zation of ethylene.uses oxide catalysts instead
of a solvent.has advantages based on a new re-
action mechanism. The'elimination of some raw
materials and a simplified technological scheme
are the main advantages of the new procedure.
This procedure also makes it possible to obtain
new types of polymers in the future.
There are 2 graphs, 2 diagrams and 1 flow chart.

perature. They show that the important process in
polymerization is the surface mobility of the carbon
ion and not its formation. The article shows the
preliminary data obtained by studying catalysts of
silicon-alumina vqth chromiumoxide by applying gas
chromatography., he.work represents an experiment
to establish new evaluation methods, clarifying also
the action of the catalyst. Many treati-s6s.on the
catalysts activities, especially- their acid proper-
ties, dealt with these problems, such as the works
by Lewis and Br8nsted. A complete study was contrI-
buted by Miesserov f-Ref 2, 3:7 whereas a comparison
between the different es of catalysts can be found
in the works by Frost ?Ref 4_7 and Handford Z-Ref 5-7.

Abstract The authors applied protein testicular extract (testolysate)
intracutaneously in the cerv-~.cnl region to 25 pat:Lents suf-.

sufficiency. Positive results were obtained in 19 patients
and in 16 of these a simultaneous noraa-lization of the sex-

amined, in 7 an -.ncrease of the amount of spelvatozoa was
observed. It is considered that testolysates, oesides a
specific action, have areflex effoct which beneficially in-
fluences the metabolistVi and trophicity of the neural tissue.

TITLE: Construction of semi-ellipsoidal bottoms from segments
PERIODICALt Metalurgia si Constructia de Masini, no 4, 1961, 339 - 344
TEXT: The article presents a method of calculating semi-ellipsoidal
pressure vessel bottoms built of segments. Semi-ellipsoidal bottoms oon-
sist of a central section called "central rosette" and of an odd number
of segments. The segments ar6 produced by mechanical dishing, welded to-
gether and the complete semi-ellipsoidal bottom normalized or annealed.
The theoretical bases of the relations determining the co-ordinates of the
lateral profiles, are shown in Fig. 4 and 5. As AB is the abscissa X of
2
the points b or A on the lateral profile of the segment evolute andW + TM_
the ordinate Y, the co-ordinates of various points of the evolute of a
semi-ellipsoidal bottom segment can be determined by:

where h is the height of the bottom convex part and d its diameter For
determining the co-ordinates of the points by which ~he lateral pr;file of
a segment evolute P, is established, intervals of 10 in the calculation
are recommended, i.e. P,-Oo; 100; 20'; etc. Substituting in the formulas
(14) and (15) J^r/Z = 14 (17) and 1800/Z = N.(18), the general formulasby which the
co-ordinat s of the points.of the lateral profile can be determined will be
