ABSTRACT: Forced axisymmetric vibrations of a cylindrical shell are considered
with or without axial inertial forces and with a longitudinal instAbility of high-
frequency of the combustion process. It is assumed that the edge of the flame is ati
-the intake cross section and that hot gases are moving at a low subsonic flow along
the entire length of the pipe. The wave equation for the velocity potential is solved
by the method of division of variables in zero order of Bessel's function. It is con-
sidered that the acoustic Impedances at the intake and exhaust end of a pipe are
known. In satisfying the boundary condition on the wall of the potential in the expres-!
sion for deflection, the terms describing the boundary effect are ignored. In con-

sidering the axial inertia forces the equation for shell vibration, the condition on the
wall is satisfied on the average by the shell's.length; moreover, it is shown that the

TEXT: The authors carried out theoretiedl calculations of ultrasonic
velocity in electricity-conducting liquids placed in a magnetic field, taking
into account the themodynamia and electric properties of these liquids. Calcu-
lations showed that,viscosity and heat conductivity have Wt little effect on them
value of:ultrasonio velooity in a magnetic field as compared with the velocity in
nonviscous and heat-conducting liquids. The effect of electric conductivity was
evaluated. In the experimental part of their work, the authors describe measure-,
ments of ultrasonic 11 velocity in mercury and sodium-potassium alloy (67% K) placod~'
in a strong magnetic field (with induction of 21,000 gauss) at frequencies of

ABSTRACT: The authors report that they were able to increase the sensitivity of

samples of feces of typhoid or suspected typhoid
and on 33 samples of recuperative or bacteria-
Isolating patients. Inoculations from enriched
media were made 18-19 48 hours and 7 days
after cultivation. n 51 positive cases6 ino-
culations from A medium were made in 5- hours.
Altogether 90 positive results were obtained;
from the medium with 0.4% sodium selenite,
positive results were obtained in 91.1% of
casesi from the medium with 0.2% sodium sele-
nite n 87 7% from MK medium in 74.4%, and from
broth in ~i-R- Inoculation directl3- on %7B
medium produced 86.6% viability. Optimal
period for cultivation on MK medium was 5-8
hours, on other enriched media 18-20 hours.

.*,bstract :220 schizophrenic patients were treated with reserpine (R),
somet~mea in combination with electroshock. R produced a
decrecoe of cessation of ~Allucinationa and, in certain cases.,
of the autism and neGativism. The best results were obtained
in ca-zatonia and depressive states. Mm combination with
electroahoak increased the effectiveness of the treatment; no
cimplications were noticed. In pationts with tuberculoois,
R was improving both psychic and somatic conditions especially
well. The symptoms of Parkinsonism developed in 33 pattients
who received only R, but were not observed even once in the
combined treatment. These symptoms were remedied by artane
without interrupting the treatment.
