Abstract [Authors' English surnmary modified): 130 foodstuffs
of animal origin were studied and 3-10 strains of streptococci
were isolated from themp including 90 enterococcus strains and
20 strains of streptococcus viridanse It was noted that entero-
cocci permit a better appraisal of contamination of faecal
origin during the technological process and preservation of the
foodstuffs; they were isolated from frozen foods even when all
other sanitary indicators were absent*

TITLE: Frequency of Be cereus in minced meat and sausages [This paper was presented
at the U.S.S.M., SecTl-on-oT-Infectious Pathology and Epidemiology Conference held in
Bucharest on 22 February 19647T
SOURCE: Microbiologia, parazitologia si epidemiologiaj v. 10, no- 4, 1965, 327-334
TOPIC TAGS: bacteria, processed animal product, microorganism contaminationp food
sanitation
ABSTRACT: The authors checked the presence of Be cereus in 77 samples of chopped meal;
in various forms (hamburgers# etc.) and fresh and smoked sausages* B. cereus was
present in 36.3 percent of the samples, with variable percentages for the different
types, from 9 percent for smoked cold cuts to 86 percent for "fresh" coldcuts such
as bologna, etc. No relation could be eatablished between the frequency of B. Cereus
and the bacteriological indices for fecal contamination of the food. Pathogenicity
tests on mice were positive for 196 of the 203 strains isolated. As a result of
their findings, the authors suggest that the absence of B. cereus be included among thi
sanitary requiremenLs for thermally processed meat products. Orig. art. has:

PERIODICAL: Razvedka i okhrana nedr, 1958,ANr 7. pp 38-41 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: Exploratory drilling without core samples, but using geo-
physical methods, was realized at a Vorkuta deposit in the
Pechora region. This section was chosen for a trial coro-
less drilling because its geological composition was al-
ready known from regular prospecting drilling, and results
of sounding by geophysical means could be thoroughly checked
by established geological profiles. Geophysical prospect-
ing was achieved by the method of apparent resistance and
partly by the method of gamma-gamma core-sampling. Dia-
grams of apparent resistance were registered with the aid
of three sounds A3.5140.1N, NO-IMMA and N3.5Y.O.I.A. The
electric profiles obtained were compared with lithologic

and concrete regularities of isolation of various litho-

A table (fig.3) shows the resistance of various coal bear-
ing and other layers. There are 5 diagrams.

diffuse at 450 -- 500C to a depth %, 100 ~L. The ion drift was produced

a particles from a Cm source, and was found to range from 0.9
1.5%. The counters were used to investipate elastic and Inelastic i
,scattering of 26.3 Mev a particles by caA nuclei. The tests have
shown that the excitation functions-plottt.Li at fixed angles exhibited
as a rule sbarply pronounced nonmonotonicity, probably due to the
appearance of some Individual levels or groups of levels in the com-
pound nucleus. The experimental data obtained were used to construct:!
the angular distributions at different energies of the Incident
;particles. These were found to agree with theory at small angles and
exhibited a regular tendency for an increase in the differential crOSS
:section at large angles. No agreement was observed &t medium angles.
IThe results agree with the calculations based on the adiabatic model j__
lonly at small angles. Tbe.autboi~ thank I. B._Teplov P. Matyya, and!

ABSTRACT Experiments involving the treatment of wool with
K2Cr2O7 solutions with the subsequent investi-
gation of chrome treated 3amnles (solubilities in
bases and acids, concentration of.alvailable n1tro-
p7ent dynamometrical tests) established that the
most promissing results may lye attained with the
use Of 1-5% K2Cr2O7 hasis the weight of wool.
