Budapest, Magyar Traumatologia, OrthopaeAla es Helyreallito Sebeszet, Vol JX, No 4, 1966: pages Z44-253- Abstract: (Authors' English summary modified] Phantom therapy Is defined as the reestablishment of functional sensations in the lost segments. Spe- cial gymnastics and suitable work therapy are very useful in this respect. In this manner alienation of the stump is impeded and its fusion with the prosthesis into an 11extremity" is assured. The stump forms an organic func- tional unity both with the r...,ganism and the prosthetic device: biological and not merely mechanical %.vn nection is established. Treatment is based on the newly developed sensations by means of which the prosthesis is fitted into the motions of the whole organism in such a way that it is not felt to be a "foreign bodyll . All this can be achieved only if correct techniques are used for the amputation and rehabilitation is started early. 9 Eastern European, 9 Western references. Some magnetic properties of Polish-made magnetostrictive alloys of "Alfer" type PERIODICAL: Archiwum elektrotechniki, v. 9, no. 4, 1960, 725 - 729 TEXT. Static and dynamic magnetic properties ofalfer-type magnetostrJo- tive alloys are given# The alloys, containing from 12.42 to 13.1% aluminum, were worked out by the Katedra Ketaloznawstwa Politechniki Warszawskiej (Denart- ment of Metallurgy of the Warszawa Polytechnic). The magnetostrictive properties of these alloys are similar to those of other Al-Fe alloys described in foreign literature, and they will be described in a separate work. The specimens had a toroidal shape, 35 mm external diameter, 25 mm internal diameter,. and were about 0.45 mm thick. ten specimens were placed in a plexiglass h6lder of such dimensions as to ascertain free tibration ot the specimens. A magnetizing winds ing of 75 turns and a measuring winding of 50 turns were wound.on the holders. The static measurements were carried out with a ballistic method and the dynamic measurements withit.~e use of a differential bridge. The static magnetic proper- Card 1/3 23324 P/019/60/009/004/005/006 Some magnetic properties of Polish-made ... A224/Ai26 ties obtained are complied in Table 1. In conclusion, the authors state that the alloys investigated can be.used for cores in ultrasonic transducers. The best suited ones are alfer alloys containing from 12.5 to 13% aluminum. These materials can also be used as magnetic ;iaterials, especially at higher frequenclo In all cases where the arising magnetbstriction is not harmful. The authors thank Professor Doctor K. Wesolowski and Professor, Doctor of Engineering A. Smolifiski for assistance In this work. There are 4 figures, 1 table, and 4 tef- erences: 2 Soviet-bloc and 2'non-3oviet-bloo. The production of cellulose fibers was increased from 106,000t in 1955 to 118,000 't in 1958. This figure will not be increased considerably, since the GDR roaohed a production capacity of 8.3 kg of cellulose fiber per eapita. This fact also determined the development of the production of synthetic fibers, i.e., "Dederon".. "Prelana", "Wolorylon", "Lanon", and PVC. The production capacity of rayon reached almost the final phase of its development. The Plant In Premnitz became one of the largest rayon production centers. Its viscose installation is widely automated. The production of cord silk is still being developed in the GDR. In the field of cellulose fibers, the problem consists only in the reconstruction of the partially obsolete equipment and the improvement of the quality. Special measures led to the production of new types. It is planned to enlarge the FVC Card 1/2 R/003/60/011/010/002/003 A125/Ao26 Development in the Production of Chemical Fibers in the Gelman Democratic Republic fiber production plants. The production of "Dederon" (PerLon silk has been Im- proved considerably. At present, there are two production msthods, i.e., an old method, and a new one, both developed In Wolfen. The latter consists of a con- tinuous polymerization, homogenization of the melting, and direct spinning of the silk. The quality has been improved considerably during the last two years. A "Daderon" producing plant was constructed at Premnitz. At prea&nt, one type wool and onetype cotton are produced. The spinning of "Dederon" was difficult because of the "pilling" effect. By modifying the oection of the nozzle, a non-circular fiber section was obtained. This shaped fiber can be spinned more easily. "La- non" is a polyestheric fiber based on polyethvlene-glyool.terephtalate. Two manu- facturing methods are possible. The second, consisting of the removal of glycol in vacuum, proved to be more safe. Polyacrylonitrilic fibers are known in the GDR under the name of "Prelana" and "Wolerylon". The first has been developed In Premnitz and it is spun from dimetbvlformamide In "hexantriol.". The latter Is spun from dimethy1formamide in a solution of water and dimethylformamide. A part of the fiber is dyed immediately after the spinning operation. The GDR is limit- ing the production of cellulose fiber, but cons!d,~rably developing the pz-01.1,:tion of synthetic fibers.
