ABSTRACT: An analysis was made of the nonsteady-state combustion of S2jjd-pnqpAj-
lant4induced by rectangular or triangular pressure pulses. Combustion of-a serd-
infinite charge was analyzed on the basis of the Zelldovich theory of powder com-

regions of flame extinction as a function of the intensity and duration of the
pressure pulsesi The optimum condition for extinction exists when the duration of
ithe pressure pulse is of the some order of ragnitude as the thermal relaxation time

A charging device using the phenomenon of
.electrification was developed at Rostov N1ITMe for charging DK-0.2
,dosimeters. The device consists of a friction disk made of
,perspex, a base to which a rubber mat is attached, a reflecting
:foil for illuminating the dosimeter scale and fibre by reflected
Ilight and ei contact-rod housing. When the friction disk rotates,
the rubber which is pressed against it, transfers a positive
,charge to the disk and this charge is taken off by copper threads
:!passing through the rubber mat. The charge is then transmitted

TITLE: The PCY -1 (RSU-1) radioisotope tracking level gage
PERIODICAL: Byulleten' tekhriiko-ekonom:Loheskoy informatsli, no. 2, 1962, 26-29
TEXT: The authors report on the new RSU-1 radioisotope tracking level gage
with float, developed by the Rostovskiy nauchno-issledo,.,atellskiy institut tekh-
nologii mashinostroyeniya (Rostov Scientific Research Institute of Mechanical
Engineering Technology). The level gage is intended for the automatic measure-
ment and regulation of the liquid level in closed and open vessels, and also for
the dosing of such liquids. The device can be used in all fields of industry for
the automation of processes connected with the storage and processing of'iiquids.,
The RSU-1 level gage consists of the electronic relay block, which is a two-
channel gamma-relay, and a column with the tracking unit. Besides, an electro- j.
magnetic reversing trigger is used in the device, the trigger being controlled
by signals of the electronic relay block and serving to reverse the motor of the
tracking system. The latter consists of theAO.Rn -4 (AOLP-4) eleotromotor, a
two-stage worm reducer, screw, clasp nut with lead wedge and column base. The

of an activity of 0.1 - 0.2 mg-equiv. radium is made of stainless steel, fluoro-
plastic, glass, etc. In the"neutral" position the gamma-radiation source
radiates simultaneously on a group of counters located both above and below the
lead wedge, as a result of which a pulse current passes through the load
resistor of the upper and lower counter groups whose constant component is
proportional to the counting rate. If the level changes and, consequently the
float position, the counter group is radiated nonuniformly which causes them
to shift until the given liquid level Is attained. A detailed description of
the functioning of the device and the following technical data are given: Level
measurement range - 0-1,000 mm; level measuring accuracy - 10 mm; tracking
speed - 500 mm/min; minirmim radiation intensity of counters - 100 impulses/see.;

dimensions: of the electronic relay block 110 x 180 x 250 mm, of the column
1,360 x 385 x 230 mm; weight; of the block 4.7 kg, of the column - 35.0 kg.
The RSU-1 device has been successfully tested on distillation columns of the
Volgo-donskiy kombinat sinteticheskikh zhirozameniteley (Volga-Don Combine of

ABSTRACT: The article reports on experiments made,on various materials (boron, bis-

of Semiconductor Technology (Zaklad Technologii Polprzewodaikow) of the Institute of
Physics or the Polish AS to determine the feasibility of using a high frequency plasma
generator as an excitation source for the spectral analysis of trace impurities in
semiconductor materials. The most suitable frequency proved to be 20mc. The circuit
of plasma gas vas maintained at an operating pressure of 1 atm. The presence of Si,
Mg, Cu, Mn, Mo, Fe, Al, As, Bi, T1, Sb, Fbs Ni, Na,, and Ca vas determined in quantitiej
on the order of lo-5 to 1%. The investigation vas undertaken because up to the presew

Abstract : Basing on the research cartied out earlier, which had
resulted in the establishment of the dependence between
the electro-kynetic. potential and the limiting equili-
brj.um conductivity, the muthor expressed the surmise
that the coagialating ability of an ion was connected
wi-%.b its mobility. Indeed, it follows from the shown
t,~ojes that in 49 cases out of 54, the increase in the
ioa mobility io accompanied by an increase of their coa-
gulation ability. The author proposed a supplement to

Abstract fA-uthors, English summary modified 7: A ense of a 5 day old
old girl with 46/47 mosaic and 17-18 trisomla is described. Apart
from anomalies and si,.-ns observed in the p.-st in cases of trisomia
17-189 the patient suffered also from stenosis of the esophalms and
cardia, hiatus hernia, duplicate of the gastric wall with an orif-
ice of an accessory pancreatic tail, and pylorostenosis. The ab-
sence of some cardiac changes in the syndrome indicates a case of

Title : Double Bonds of Native Lignins,
Orig Pub: Zh. prikl. khimil, 1956, 2% No 10, 1529, 1540
Abstract: It is shown by addition of bromine to wood In
vacuum, that undamaged native lignin must con-
tain aliphatic double bonds. Since on bromina-
tion there are possible not only reactions of'
additions also substitution reactions, the brom-
ination procedure is affected by the selection
of the solvent for bromine. By determining the

amount of absorbed bromine the Iodine value Is
calculated. It corresponds to the total amount
of halogen which was added or substituted bY

of lignin use Is made of the formula: lignin
(in %) - Iodine value 4!. The determined values
of qjare given for individwil groups of woody
plants. For an experimental verification of(k
the authors made use of the gravimetric method
of lignin determination according to Komarov.
