Since zinc oxide, zinc hydroxide,.and zinc carbonate have the same specific surface and particle size, the elevated activity of the investigated substances as compared to that of zinc oxide, is explained by the fact that the zinc oxide, formed in their decomposition during the vulcanization process, is more effective than its commercial counterpart. TITLE: Preparing the surfaces of small parts prior to coating and'ultra- sonic cleanings of pipelines; PERIODICAL: Referativnyy zhurnal, Mashinostroyeniye, no. 7, 1962, 31-32, abstract 7B169 (V sb. "Prlmeneniye ul'trazvuka v tekhnol. mashino.- str.", no. 3, Moscow, 1960, 101-104) TEXT: The author presents the results of investigating the most dfficient technology of cleaning small parts prior to proteotive coating and the ultrasonic cleanifig of pipelines. For the'tests a component nomenclature of 150 items was compiled and 6 compounds were selected for chemical pickling. The best results were obtained with a solution of the following composition; 700 mg/1 hydro- chloric acid, 300 mgll water and 10 g/1116 -5 (PB-5) orT76 -8 (PB-8) inhibitor (the application of thejjA [IA] or KC [KSJ in;%ibitors is also possible), at room temperature, the pickling time being 1-7 min. After pickling, the components were washed and degreased in the ultrasonic Y3B -3 (UZV-3) bath containing a solution of the composition (g/1): calcined soda 5 - 15 sodiumtriphosphate 5 - 15 and 3 g/i on* -7 (OP-7) or on -io (op-lo) at 2o - 60 C, the treatment Card 1/3 Preparing the surface of small parts 5/123/62/000/007/008/016 A004/A101 lasting not longer than 1 min. Then the components were washed in-cold running water and passivated in a solution of,chromic anhydride (250 - 300 g/1) and phosphoric acid (100 g/1). The components were then washed again and dried in cold compressed air. The components treated.in such a way were parkerized by the hot and cold method. Corrosion tests of the components yielded positive results. The investigation of the ultrasonic technology of cleaning pipes and pipelines was carried out in the UZV-3 and UZV-4 baths (for pipes of up to I m length) and in a test bath with six magnetostrictivenmc-6 (PMS-6) converters, supplied from twonr -io (UZG-10) generators (for large-size components). A good surface finish of the pipes was obtained with chemical pickling in the foll6wing solutions (g/l)-: 1) 70 - 80 nitric acid, 80 - 100 sulfuric acid and 40 - 50 hydrofluoric acid, 1 - 1.5 carbon disulfide; 130 - 140 nitric acid, 80 - 100 sulfuric acid, 40 - 50 hydrofluorio acid, 1 - 1.5 carbon disulfide (the maximum pickling time for pipes as delivered was 20, for pipelines 40 minutes). 2) 200 - 360 nitric acid, 40 - 50 hydrofluoric acid (treatment time - 10-40 min, at room temperature). Then the pipes were-treated in an ultrasonic bath with a solution of the following composition (g/1): 30 sodiumtriphosphate, 5 - 15 calcined soda, 3 OP-7 or OP-10 (temperature 40 - 6o 0C). The clea=g time with ultrasonics was shorter in comparison with the cleaning applied in the bulk L.-Card 2/3 W r S112316VOW100710081016 Preparing the surface of small parts AOOVA101 production of pipes. Earlier determinations of the total scattering matrix and its angular dependence had been made by Rozenberg and associates in 1958 using photographic and vis ual'photometry and subsequently confirmed in the more comprehensive investigations conducted by Pritchard and Eliott in 1960 using photoelectric instrumentation. Short reference is made to the representation of deuteron compounds. The materials to be investigated are carefully cleaned and de-gased,'T k was determinod from the vanishing and the occurrence meniscus. With each~pair (den- teron compound and the hydrogen compound analogous to it) 20 measurements were carried out. Besides the differencea A Tk a Tit; H..TktD also the absolute values of T k were do- terTined as long as this value did not exceed 3000C. Above 500 C only AT was determined. In ali substances investi- gated The quadratic error committed when determininF AT 0 k Card 1/3 amounted to about 0,1. , If the light isotope is replaced by the heavy isotope, T k is always reduced. Also in the case The Isotopic Effect in Critical Temperature SOV/12o-120-3-36/67 of previously investigated substances (with the exception of helium and hydrogen) an isotopic effect with the same sign was observed. Thus, the law T k D < T k H is appare!itly of general validity for the variods cias es of inorganic and nrganic compounds within the range of medium temperatures. By applying the known relations a . 27 R T k/64 Pk and a = 9 RT V I (where a denotes Van der Waal's (Van-der-Vaalla) k/8 V, ) oonstanti, a T2 P /T2 P and a /a - (T /(T V D/8H k, D k, 11 k, 11 k, D D H k k P . k k H is obtained. Thus it holds for the isotopic analogues of water that aD/aH - 0,989. Various details are then discussed. The isotopic effects discussed and thus also the conclusion drawn as to the reduction of Van der "Naal'B (Van der Vaal's) in- teraction on the occasion of the replacement of the light by the heavy isotope must in no case be extended to the range of low temperatures. At the temperatures of liquid helium and hydrogen the replacement of the light isotope by the heavy one leads to an Intensification of Van der Waal's (Van der Vaulls) interaction, which is the opposite to what takes place at medium temperatures.
