Errata slip Inserted. 12,300 copiez- printed.
Ed.- T.M. Lyubimova; Tech. Ed.: V.V. Belyayeva.
PURPOSE. This book is Intended for engineers and students of
advanced courses in radio engineering schools of higher education.
COVERAGE: The theory and methods for the graphical solution of
radar-range equations by ineans of' point and otfter types of
targets with or without external lnterf'erenot_-~ are discussed.
General formulas and universal graphs for coii,,put'ation of operat-
ing range under conditions of smo;th -and rough spherical earth
surface effect are derived along uith t1lie probability character-
istics of various types of signa! Jetection, The author thanks

ABSTRACT The development of functional meLlcds in the quamtum theipry of the field
makes it possible to reduce the problem of the dititerxina-.ion of the pro-
pagater of a system of particles which are in inLeraction to the prablen
of the determination of the propagator of a fitirnion. Thi:s formion is a.,;-
suved to move in any exterior field of correspan:lir~ 3,0S.7. particles. Thit
present work examines a now aspect of this problor. Cn this occasion a
somewhat, unexpected connection of the theory of FERMI fi,olds with the
theory of the spiners of an infinitely dimensional space becomes apparo!iat.
For reasons of ooncreteness the author here dvaln with quantumelectrady-
Pamics, although all results may be transferred directly to all varietitts
of the meson theory. The operator of the quantizod eloctron-positren
field Y(x) is written down as follows in interaction ratpresentation:
T W - Zun(x) an. Here u (x) denotes the complete orthenarxalized sy-
stem of the solutions of Ne DIUC equation and a.,,, ac,wding to the si,7n
of the energy, doncte either the operators of "hit annihilation of the t~l-
ectron or the operators of the areation of a positron. The following aa-

The operators of the infinitely syall rotations (mievents) in this re-
presentation have the form M'U. (1/40 ( I- - )I 'There A and B
are coinposed indices of tht type (na). The state vecters of the field
It/then prove to be spinors . Next, the connection between the spimorial

investigated. The corresponding r5lations in the field theory occur in
forin of relations between the intaraction reproguntatien and the
HEISENBERG representation.

PERIODICALt Zhurnal eksperimentallnoy 1 teoretichefikoy ftziki, v. 44P

TI,XTj The author has develoned a field theory (ZhETF, 37, 504, 1959; 43,
256, 1962) in which the pseudo-Euclidean momentua space is replaced by a
p-space with constant curvature; instead of the usual :3om,-!ntuui addition
operation a shift operation is introduced. The propertieu of the latter art,
now investigated in great detail for an elliptic p-space, "ith positive-

case is Particularly considered here, since it has no analogon In aoirmon
Euclidean geometry. Special attention iu paid to energy-momentum conserva-
tion; it can be shown that this conaervat.on law remains 41-.xactly valid for
elastic scattering of fermions. Otherwi:ie it may be oomisidered only as an
approxim.,.~Te law in generalized field theoiy. The possibility of bound-
state formation is also discussed for th,a baryon -antibarj,on system with
~small codpling constant. It can be shovia th;at it is not necessary to intra-
duce any special mechanism of strong interactions into this thp-ory. On the,
basis of only universal weak and electromagnetic interactions, the strong
,interactions appear as a kind of secondary effect due to "the formation of
mesons as compound particles. There are 3 figures.
