(~e~,~=cal lymphatic metastases of various ORL neoplasms 1954-1962, incl.
55 with Co6O bomb. LI-letastatic foci receive 100 to 2000 r more than the.
primary region of the lesion. Lymph node extracts are given concurrently,
apparently to radiosensitize the lesions. Statistical data are permuted
in several ways. Three Yugoslav and 17 Western references.

Abstract In the majority of patients with different at1writa, the
juice of froah or dehydrated cabbage (150, 200 and 250
ml.) raised considerably the secretion and acidity of the
gastric juice, and increased the strength and frequency
of peristalsis (maximm after an hour). CabbaSe juicc
is a stronger irritant than a coffee breakVist or
mechanical irritation of the stomach. The juice is
recommondod as a thorapoutic agent in hypoacidity, low
poristaliu and Sastric atonia.

IM: It was discovered that adsorption of water, especially at low vapor
pressure, reduces the intensity of fluorescence of'rhodamine 6 1(6Zh) adsorbed
on cellulose. At transition to capillary condensation of water the further in-
tensity drop in insignificant.- The authors propose to utilize the.phenomenon
discovered for developing a method of checking the content of adsorbed water in
cellulose during its drying. Besides rbodamine other luminescent dyestuffs.
(auramine, trypaflaviney can be used for this purpose.

ABSTRACT: In order to obtain a more reliable determination of the
characteristic electron-vibration frequencies in each spectral band,
and to trace their variation from c4ompound to ccopound, the absorp-
tion spectra of benzene, toluol, benzoic acid, phthalic acid,
phthalic anhydride, and phthalimide were measured at low temperatures
using solvents that either vitrify or crystallize upon cooling
(ethyl alcohol and dioxane, respectively). Analysis of the data
shows that each of the spectra of all the substances contain funda-

!mentally two frequencies, one corresponding to the ccffnpletely sym-
metrical vibration of benzene (964 cm-1) and one to the incompletely
symmetrical vibration (528 cm~-'). Consequently the spectra of all
these compounds are governed essentially by the cloud of ir electrons
of the benzene ring, disturbed by the substitutes to a lesser or
greater degree. It is shown that the frequency of the electron tran-
sition in phthalimide does not correspond to the synwnetry frequency
of the spectra, as is frequently assumed, but to the region of the
maximum of the absorption band. Experimental data to confirm this
