TRANSLATIONt The authors present results on ultrasound polishing (UP) in which the fi.-iishing tool is fed in a plane perpendicular to its axis. The oxperiments were carried out on a milling machine equipped with an acoustic head (1 kwt, 20 ke), ~ feed mechanism, and an abrasive suspension delivery system. The authors propose ~ device for controlling the part thickness consisting of a system of two feelers attached to a head. As the head is lowered, one of the feelers toachois the table mirror, and-tbeother contacts the part surface. It was found that Ut the UP of Card 1/3 ACCESSION BR: AR4027667 steel with a transverse feed of 10 mm/min, the optimal concentration of baron carblde~ No 3 in water is 30-40% by weight (amplitude of oscillations A - 40 m.'Lorons, specific pressure P - 30 g/mm?-, tool diameter 20 mm). The optimal va:,ue of P Is 30-40 g/mzm2 (tests were made with up to 50 g/mm?, for which the tool itas found to oscillate in a transverse direction with an a4litude of 7.5-10 micronB). The tool has a rectangular cross-section ~dth the ratio of sides equal to 1.80. (long side in direction of feed) and has 1.39 times greater efficiency than a round tool and a L.16 times g eater efficiency than a square one (P = 30 9/mm:2-, Ixitt end area.80-200 mm ). Experiments on the UP of heat treated stools 2OKh and AN for a frequency of 19-20.6 kc, A - 11 -W microns. P = 20-50 g/=2, boron carbide Nos 3 and 5 on the order of 45-50% by weight, initial sample surface roughness within class 4, a rectangular tool area of 49-315 mm, and a cutting dopth of 0.03-0-30 mm, showed that the finishing efficiency In bringing up the r-urface to a class 7 or 8 finish is 6.6-31 =2/min (without transverse feed) and with a feed rate of S = 5-10 mm/min increases to 23-85 =2/min (4-7.9 =3/min). 2:t is recommended that UP be used following electropulse finishing. Rostov- na-Donu, 1961, 111-118- TOPIC TAGS. edge finishing, edge profile, polishing. edge polishing, ultrasound finishing TRANSUTION: The author presents & qualitative theoretical explanation of the difference in the thicknoss of the removed layer at the edge of the part and at its center in ultrasound finishing with transverse tool feed with respect to the part. This differenoe depends on the amount of plus travel of the tool off the part. If the tool stops precisely at the part edge without traveling any furhter, the depth of the removed layer drops linearly to the part edge over the entire width of the tool in accordance with the reduction of the reduction of Crd ACCESSION NR: ARW27668 the duration of treatment 9,.f these areas. If the tool travels oomp~-Letely off the part, the edge "curves down" exponentially, since the pressure L-kcroaaes in roll-off, and smaller abrasive grains also begin to grind. With partial overlapping of the tool, there in an intermediate case: a rise near -the edge and a curving down of the edge. In order to improve finishing preoi4iont'the overlapping distance of thet, tool can be ahosen such that the height of the rise is equal to the curving down of the edge and that the rise and oarvi.Ag distance. do not exceed one-half of the parallelism or surface wayineso tolerance. This adduct is thermiLlly stable and behaves as an individual compound, with a distinct boiling point and molecular weight; it dissolves in a number of organic solvents idthout change, does not react with oxidizing agents (halogens), and does not liberate molecular iodine from an acidified solution of KI. It reacts readily with nucloophilio agents such as water, alcohols, and amines. When the adduct is treated with methanol in the cold, a product with composition 2CF3NO-C2F4 P(OCH 3)3 is isolated. The chemical properties of the adduct Card L 34129-66 ACC NR% AP6025 -contradict the hypothesis of a radical mechanism of the copolymeriw-1-i-Onlof CF3NO with C?4 in the presence of PC73 , supporting the idea of a unique termination of the copolymerization, occurring at t~e very beginning of the process and accompanied by oxidation of trivalont phosphorus to the pantavalent form. A complete reaction mechanism and structure of tha adduct are proposed. The chemical data on the structure of the adduct are con.. firmed by the results of mass spectral measurements. 35, 996r SUB CODS: 07, 20 / SUM DATL-t 08,TuI65 / ORIG mr.: 001 / OTH BZFt 003 8(4) SOVil 12-59 -5-10 381 Translation from: Referativnyy zhurnal. Nr 5, Minsk, 1957, pp 114-119 ABSTRACT: It is stated that design organizations do not pay due attention to the lighting at electric generating stations. Using the lighting design for MinsR TETs-3 station made by Promenergoproyekt as an example., a number of unfortunate solutions in the illumination of the fuel -unloz-_ding area, boiler room, and turbine room are shown. It is noted that the lighting project for an electric station should be strictly coordinated with the placement of equipment, should take into account the operating requirements, should have provision for a low-voltage repair lighting, and should use industrial-type fuse boards and nonbr eaking -glass fixtures. To save on cable and other materials, the relay --protection devices and meters for generators, tr;lnsformers, and outgoing lines can be removed from the main control room and placed in the main switchgear room; a signal board indicating relay operations can be installed in the main control room. The unit-. is Controlled by varyinq\fuel delivery and screw pitch. One of the characteristics of this control-.. system\i~ that it utilizes the compressed air of the gas turbine unit. The compressed air is used both as the power medium and for performing command functions. The two engines composing the unit were tested for 2000 hours at the parent plant during which Itime the engines were started up 400 times and went through many reverse and other i Isimulated maneuvers. The results show that the control system is reliable and ensures I ,good maneuverability and stability of the gas turbine unit. The use of compressed air from the engine for the pneumatic control system contributes to high reliability and stability under conditions of vibration, impact and temperature variation. The use of a pneumatic system instead of hydraulic is much more efficient from the standpoint of increased fire safety and the absence of drainage systems. Orig. art. has: 8 f Lsures.
